    Hi

My 6 yr old Nokia 8210 connects without any problems with my Jornada
720 and Psion 5 MX for dial up and sending faxes.

    My K700i does not

I really wanted to use the IR connection to hopefully use my GPRS
service but now would be happy just to have dial up

    Any ideas?

    IR is switched on

The accounts are valid and have been tried with the Nokia.

    Regards

I had that problem on my pda.
Go to connection settings and under init string type capital Z.
    Just Z
should do the trick, dial or gprs doesn't matter, other setting must also be correct duh

I think it is the K700i. I have similar problems. A 5MX that works
perfectly with a T68i but when I changed phones to a K700i suddenly no
connection, tho IRDA works to the extent that I transferred all my
phone numbers from one phone to the other via IRDA without problems. MY
original Bluetooth hands-free didn't work with the K700i either so had
to buy a new one (which works).

Update the firmware. Early versions were flakey with BT.

R2CAA01 is the latest. Could be worth a shot.
