T68i - opinions - should i buy?

Hi

I'm looking to buy an Orange Pay-as-you-go phone. I'm thinking of getting
the Sony Ericsson T68i. Anyone have any opinions about the phone or any
other recommendations? What's the good and bad features? My price range is
£130.00 max

T68i
good: color screen, compatibility with various picture formats, GPRS,
MMS, EMS, bluetooth, IR, nice organizer functions, can be used with the
communicam attachment.

bad: monophonic tones (which sound really low), 256 color depth,
limited memory, no java.

comment: it's a good buy.

It has many pros, but a couple of cons:

* Display is hard to read in bright sunlight
* RF (radio) performance is only fair

t68i, like an fm radio headset, camera, bluetooth headset, mp3 player,
etc.

so your T68 seems to be a bit different to mine. I never had any
problems reading the screen (well, at least as long as the backlight
is on).
There were no unexpected shutdowns (beside the one where I
accidentially removed the battery) and lockups are totally out of my
experience.
Keylock works nice and I have mine for more than 18 months now and
never noticed a tendency of it to fall to bits.

What are you doing with your phone?

No different to virtually any other colour phone on the market then. Most
colour phones are poor for screen visibility, particularly with the
backlight off.

Mine has been absolutely fine, and the only way I've managed to crash it is
with the camera or MP3 player. Not too sure if it was the phone or the
addon that was the problem though. Keylock has been 100% reliable.

I've always found the build quality to be fine, and certainly better than
most of the Nokia's on the market. As with anything else, if you look after
it, it will last, but abuse it & it probably will fall to bits.

Some are better then the other. But i think T610 is the worse one.

I thought this last complaint is an Amrican one. I believe the European
phones don't have this problem.

AFAIK, it's the same phone in both markets. The difference in Europe is
probably that the GSM coverage is better, not that the phone actually works
better.

I would agree that this is the case also. After using the new T68i for
5 days, I can say that it has no notable RF performance difference to
our T39m. As for the display, as long as backlighting is on (Auto
mode), visualization is fine under the sun. Menu speed isn't as fast as
my desktop computer, but for a phone, it's more than adequate.

As for an opinion on this phone. I'd say that it's a fantastic phone
for people who needed a phone for real work and connectivity. It has
triband, GPRS, WAP, Bluetooth, IR, small size, great end of line price
and near bug free late version firmware. Of course, if you are looking
for a fun phone with thousands of colour screen, too many games that
distract you from work or others, than this is probably not a good
choice.
