I couldn't find a reference for the optimum picture size to use for P800
contacts (in order to minimize resizing by the phone), and got no help from
Sony Ericsson, so I did some experimentation with screen captures. 206 x 152
is what I came up with -- that seems to be fully displayed without resizing
with the flip open, and cropped down to 206 x 144 (without resizing) with the
flip closed. Comments invited.

I found the ideal size for my t300 by beaming one of the pictures that were
included to my PC (some are restricted, others are unlimited distribution).
Doesn't the p800 have some kind of included graphic for the caller ID (like
one to select if you don't have a picture yet)?

Most of the supplied images are 208 x 144, which I think is the size of the
screen background with the flip closed. The contact picture with the flip
closed is displayed with a one-pixel border, which makes it slightly narrower.

Download SonyEricssons Image Editor from their website.
Open your picture with this on your pc and the program cuts the
picture to the right size. then you export this picture to your p800.
I quite easy.

And not terribly good. Putting aside the issue of having to install 19.5 MB
or brain-dead bloatware, the pictures it saves are crude 128 x 127 bitmaps.
I know the P800 can do much better than that, so why would I want to cripple
myself that way?

Re: P800 optimum contact picture size
full screen pictures are 208x320 (no borders, fits the whole screen). i
use photoshop to enhance images, the SE image editor isnt really
useful...

Had you actually paid attention to the thread, or even just read the Subject
with a bit of care, rather than just blasting off a response, you would know
that *wasn't* the question.
