P800 USB Cable does often not connect

Hi

I tried to connect my P800 to my Notebook with the USB cable adapter.
The P800 is set to modem mode to dial the internet.
Most often the notebook does not connect to the internet. But then suddenly
it works without changing any settings.

What could be the reason? I set the speed to 115k. Any suggestion?

The connection between the cradle and the p800 isn't very good and often a
bad connection causes this problem
