I use W98FE (updated, of course, from Windows Update page) and a 10m Belkin
BT. I've no problem (maybe sometimes i've problems on Win startup, but no
serious problems); but I tried it on my brother's PC (also w98FE but better
hardware) and during BT drivers installation, PC switched off itself; when
we tried to switch it on, a few secondes after win startup completed it
switched off again and so on... I saw that drivers installation didn't
complete, so there were not Uninstall option aviable.... After clean every
thing abaut BT files on system dir (from "win save fail mode", of course) it
started up normally (ufff!).
If I were you, before buy on BT device I tried another one from a friend (or
from the store), and if you don't have problems, buy it...
Bye!

Re: Which BT USB dongle works with Win98 First Ed?
I'm using a Acer BT500 dongle with Windows 98SE.
That doesn't give any problems.
I'm not sure if it also works with Windows98FE.
Why don't you upgrade tot SE ?
About the software. I'm using the software supplied with my Siemens S55.
No problems so far.

Juju

As Far as I know Windows 98v1 does not support Bluetooth.. I guess if you
can get round this, either by upgrading to Win 98 SE (or later) or getting a
more expensive (and slow) serial dongle.. but correct me if im wrong..

Re: Which BT USB dongle works with Win98 First Ed?
W98FE supports Bluetooth because W98FE supports USB devices...
I have W98FE installed on my PC with an USB Belkin Bluetooth device running
without any problem...
bye.

Re: Which BT USB dongle works with Win98 First Ed?
Thanks for the responses so far.
It does look as though my best bet is to bite the bullet and move to
Win98SE -- but I was trying to avoid that on cost grounds! (Since
Win98 is quite satisfactory for everything else I do.)
Guess I'm also a little peeved that the box for the BTD-2403 did
actually refer to 'Windows 98' rather than Windows 98SE.

There's a fews OS's that can manage it :
Windows XP SP2 (by the end 2004), MacOS X and Linux 2.4... (the
brand new kernel)

I got the Wireless Transceiver that accompanies Microsofts Wireless
IntelliMouse Explorer for Bluetooth running under Windows 98 (I guess
it is First Edition as it doesn't say "Second Edition" anywhere) without
a problem using the instructions from
http://forum.gsmhosting.com/vbb/show...ostid=3D448430
f'up to alt.cellular.bluetooth because this is not about Ericsson

XP Supports Bluetooth now. There isn't native Microsoft support if that's
what you mean but that's no big deal.
