Just went in to Carphonewarehouse in Leeds today to get my F/W updated and
seems to have been a wasted day....

My phone now has the f/w: - R2A014

I'm pretty certain it was R2A something when I took it in and that the
    latest is R8 something?!

Should I pull the CPW manager over and complain about this or just take it
back to their supposed repair shop and say it hasn't been upgraded....?!

It seems to me pretty crap that someone can't be arsed to plug a cable in
and press a few buttons... (or do I have the latest F/W and I'm mistaken.)

    Thanks in advance!

    Cheers Nick,

    CPW = Lazy f*#$ing c&!ts

    Anyone had a similar experience?

I wonder if they don't even know how to upgrade firmware, what firmware is
and does, or what a cable is or doing your job properly is.... I just
thought of an idea for a new TV show, the clueless f**kwit @
carphonewarehouse "What's a Torx T6 screwdriver again CPW headoffice?!"....
(Probably get sued but would I care with all my ratings and advertising
    revenues, lol.)

Any thoughts on making a complaint to the store manager or should I just go
in and say I'm sorry but I asked for this to be upgraded and it's not been
    upgraded...

Thing is my warranty runs out soon (23rd I think) so I want it upgrading
    before I have to pay.....

Just possibly if I complain to the manager the disgruntled employee might
"accidentally" pull the flash cable half way through or something....

a proper SonyEricsson service centre would have got it right.

some restraint on your language would also be appreciated

    Ooops. Sorry, I thought I **** them all :-S

Problem is the nearest SonyEricsson service centre is out of the way for me
but CPW is right there in town... Perhaps I should just go there tomorrow.

all i would say is that a diplomatic approach is a LOT more likely to get
    results.

as soon as you go in shouting and screaming, their willingness to help
    nose-dives.

    fact.

Doesn't make any difference, the phone can still be resurrected. BTW,
latest FW is R8A015 not R8A004 (as a lot of places seem to think).

You might like to point out that R2A014 was the original release firmware
for the T68i, and is more than 18 months old. The CPW technician in
question should be downloading new firmware from the Ericsson EMMA II
server, that will not have R2A014 on it any more, instead it should have
    R8A015.

All sorted now. He claimed the technician must have flashed it with the old
file left on the machine (likely story) and that he was downloading the
latest version off the website. Hardly an upgrade to R2A014 then is it?!

They are a proper servie centre. What would you call an "improper" service
    centre?

As would bottom-posting and trimming, but we don't always get what we want.
