Any non-Widcomm based BT dongles?

I'm currently using a Belkin/Widcomm USB dongle which sometimes actually
syncs my T39 & T610 with Outlook via XTNDConnect & SE's PM s/w. Does
anyone know if there are any differences in drivers & s/w between
various Widcomm based dongles or if any alternatives are available?

I use the Belkin F8T001 version 1 dongle. This dongle comes with older
Widcomm drivers. There were instructions floating around a while back on how
to get the Widcomm 1.4.x.x drivers to work with this device. It seems that
the newer drivers are a bit more stable. Depending on the vendor there are
other versions of Widcomm in use with other dongles.

Some of the problems you are experiencing are more application SW related,
IMHO. The Sony Ericsson software is not the most robust stuff I have ever
seen. You may want to consider looking at the Float MA package which is
available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/fma I have had good luck with
this package and it seems to do a good job of synching and such.

If I want to check for email or write a letter, I open the appropriate
app & click a few buttons & it's done. Nearly anything to do with phones
& the phase of the moon suddenly comes into play.

The SE Phone Monitor program is probably the weakest link in the chain
even with my SE serial cable but the Widcomm s/w will refuse to play
sometimes. What pisses me off the most is the loss of being able to
power down my PC - it now reboots instead under XP. Even tried disabling
the BT LAN & exiting the SE & BT s/w 1st - no difference.

The advantage that XTNDConnect has over the BT Sync app is filtering &
the option to choose the folder - I have one for my phone apart from my
main Contacts folder.

I don't know if the full version of XTNDC still needs the SE PM app
(more reliable if not?). It will be interesting to see if MS include a
BT stack in their replacement for XP.

If 3G, Edge, BT & imaging is going to take off - the connection to
computers needs to far more seamless & reliable.
