greetings, phone fiends! recently i purchased a sony ericsson t616 from
a local att dealer; it cost about $120 and i live in the metro-east area
of st.louis, MO--edwardsville, IL to be exact. anyways. i have some
glorious questions for your perusal and i hope to receive a bounty of
replies full of the awe-inspiring and omniscient advice you cell phone
aficionados are so good at giving.
1.) i think i've read about this somewhere before. while accessing my
voice mail and talking on the phone i often hear a strange, bell-like
sound ring out in the background of the speaker's emissions. it sounds
like a short "dink!" i was wondering if
i.) anyone else has heard about this and
ii.) knows what it is/
iii.) what it means/
iv.) if my phone will explode, killing everyone in the state/
v.) how to stop it. from making bell sounds, not exploding.
so really question 1 has five issues i hope you to help me with.
2.)this regards the e-mail client. does anyone know how to set up a
yahoo mail filter that ONLY sends alert to mail that is sent to my yahoo
inbox, NOT my bulk folder? repeat, i do not want to receive alerts for
spam that gets sent to my bulk folder and then sent to e-mail hell. i
only want to receive inbox/non-spam alerts. anyone know how to achieve
this? yes i know i can check my mail from the phone. i want e-mail
alerts!
3.) lastly, and just to show you how big of a n00b i really am, how
exactly does att measure online packet sizes and whatnot? i supposedly
have 1 MB a month. do i only accrue--that means gain--memory "points" by
certain activities and not others, or does any page i visit through the
phone rack up bytes?
i have other questions but i shant ask them now for fear of reprisal in
the form of unanswered questions. i've participated in forums before so
i realize how many people do not like to answer all the poster's
questions, but please! i need some help and this seems like the best
place for it! thanks!

Reply to first question:
That bell-sound is a message alert. During a the normal high-volume alert won't blast into your ear (SE don't want claims ;-) but a much softer tone will sound if you receive a message.
And don't worry only nokias (i mean NOkias) tend to explode or burst into flames ;-)
