T610 - selecting band?

You'd almost never know this was a triband phone - afaik it's never
mentioned in the manual and the SE web site doesn't list it as a
"feature". At the bottom of the list of features the 3 bands are
listed.

Anyway how does it change bands? Someone said to go to ...network
selection..manual but here in the US that doesn't lead to anything. If
it detects emissions on a different band, does it then offer a choice?

It should *in theory* search everything automatically when you perform a
manual search. You can then select your home network, and the handset should
search for this first in the future.

I have never seen an "option" to switch bands manually, other than my
Samsung V200 (V205).

Right. Normally, you will have the phone switched off when changing from
900/1800 networks to 1900 or vice-versa (as you will probably be in an
aircraft). When you switch it back on, it should just find the correct
network. I have never tried swapping from 900/1800 to 1900 in 'real life'
without switching off, but the phone should be able to swap even if left
switched on. It might take a short while to swap.

There are also menu options for selecting networks manually (connectivity
menu)

Early Motorolas with tri-band had this, L7089 was one I think, and the
even earlier one (forget the phone's type number) that still used the
rectangular/sloping battery and was half-brick sized. Orange called it the
mr601 in the UK.

Thanks, all. We've used a long line of Motorolas and all the 7x89
series and even the T/P280 I think requires one to manually select the
band, so the 610 is a surprise.
