    Can anyone confirm this....
I was trying to upgrade through orange direct and they tell me that
that there are no P900's available at the moment because of a problem
with the software.. anyone have any news on this. I'm throwing my 4th
SPV E200 back at them.. and want the P900... any ideas on the problem?

Could be a problem about customized firmware?
Does anybody know if P900's Orange firmware is the same of Official P900?

Here in Italy several friends of mine bought the P900, but they don't have
any kind of problem (...till now...) and I've got no information about
    something like a "recalling".

I can only think SonyEricsson has made an Orange Customized firmware like
they did with Vodafone and T610.

A few things spring to mind:

Firstly, the firmware in the Orange P800 is the same as the normal
P800, only that a few extra files and settings are stored in the
phone's memory. So I doubt that the P900 firmware is modified.

Secondly, one of the big things that SE trumpeted about with the P900
(unlike the P800), is the ability to do over-the-air firmware updates,
which kinda negates the need to do a recall in order to fix any
software problem (unless of course, there's a bug in the over-the-air
    firmware update routine!!).

Thirdly, I've heard countless times where a provider/store/retailer
has claimed that a given handset has been recalled/has problems/is
poor, simply because *they* do not have stock of it and they'd rather
talk you into getting a different handset than have you go and get the
phone you want from elsewhere. If they were keen on offering you a
different handset (perhaps the P800), then I'd imagine that's the case
    here.

How much is Orange charging you for the P900 on upgrade? I'm considering
upgrading in the new year, but if the upgrade premium isn't bad then I might
    do so earlier.

I phoned upgrades and they quoted me £75 upgrade fee (only in month 9 of my
current contract) and £400 for the P900. I told them that I wasn't prepared
to pay £400. They transferred me to the retentions dept who waived the
upgrade fee and let me have the handset for £149.99

    Adey,

    What contract are you on?

Have you used magic? Hypnosis? Magic words?

I have just talked to upgrades and they told me to wait till I am out of
contract and then see what happens. I have 14 days to go.

    Thanks,

    Wlodek

I am on talk 60 and PAYG GPRS. The fact that my last two bills were both
over £150 due to me being in Iraq seemed to swing the deal.

    Re: P900 recalled??

Thanks Adey, I managed to get through to probably the same people, as they
sounded quite professional. I was told that on the basis of my bills and the
length of contract all they can offer me in terms of the price is the same
old £199.95 that's been mentioned here earlier.

So I decided to go with the current O2 (I know!) offer of free P900 on 400
minutes which can drop to anything (I am normally on 150-200min) after the
first three months. So I am effectively paying (£45-£30)*3 plus the slight
overlap in the contracts - about £50-60 altogether. Even if it is on what I
am told on an inferior network (which I have not noticed yet).

If the Orange woman asked me for £100+ I would have probably paid up. But
    she did not.

Question: so what is wrong with O2? All the moans Google could find for me
were about customer services, which I hope I won't need much, and about
coverage, but all (or most) of the latter ones date from 2-3 years ago.

    Best wishes,

    W.

I'm on O2 as well as Orange but only because O2 were the first with GPRS a
couple of years ago. I never had any problems except for poor coverage in my
    home location.
