Mt T610 broke yesterday so went to my local Vodafone shop today to buy a
replacement but was sold on the V525 which loolked a pretty good phone. I
bought it, but before I did asked the salesman two specific questions:

    1. Does it have T9 text input
    and
    2. Will it sync with Outlook on my Windows machine

His answer was 'yes' to both.

Having got it home it seems the answer is 'no' to both. Am I correct?

    Many thanks

    Ted (P***d off)

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have downloaded 'Motorola Mobile Phone Tools' V 1.23 and the update to
2.16 but the initial installation on V1.23 always fails with en error
message 'Error Number 0x80040707 - DLL function call crashed:
PbkInstall_GetBookNames' so I don't get a chance to apply the upgrade.

I am using WinXP Pro SP1, have tried a re-boot, disabling virus checker
etc.etc. with no luck. Is this the right software and/or am I doing
    something wrong?

    Best wishes

    Ted

Assuming the 525 is identical to the 500 then:

No it doesn't have T9, it has iTAP which, to my surprise, is better than T9.
It offers to complete whole words when you haven't finished typing them, it
handles punctuation very well (though this is poorly documented) and learns
fast which word you are most likely to be trying to enter, not always
offering the same word by default for the same key presses. It has the same
failing as T9, it's too stupid to know that i on its own means I!

Yes it will synch with Outlook via bluetooth and the Mobile Phone Tools

It's a lovely phone with a solid feel and a great keypad. It's interface is
    also endlessly customisable

I have same operating system (XP plusP1) as you but MPT installs fine.
Sorry, can't help you. Try one of the XP groups eg alt.os.windows-xp (but
    beware Kadaitcha man!)
