Hi,
I am trying to transfer phonebook data from a Motorola V300 to a V3..
The phonebook from the Motorola V300 was exported via an old version of
Phonetools which produced a csv file.
I am trying to use the version of Phonetools that i got with the new V3
to import
this Phonebook CSV data but it does not appear to recognise the csv
format!
Has anyone come accross this issue before?
I would be grateful for any suggestions
Ps I have tried data pilot but it wont recognise the new v3 phone..

Re: Transfering phonebook from a v300 to a V3
Just save the phonebokk to MPT's directory (as opposed to syncing
w/Outlook) then hook up the v3 and sync with the MPT Phonebook. No need
to be concerned with files. I did it exactly this way when I went to a
v3 from a v600 and again when I went from a v3 to a v3i. Be sure to run
Autoupdate on MPT to ensure you have the latest version (4.04 right
now).

..csv files are essentially textfiles with delimiter characters to
separate columns (e.g. tab or . You can open your .csv file in any
spreasheet program like Open Office or Microsoft Excel.
I would try the following:
Manually enter a few names and numbers into the V3 phonebook. Then use
your mobile phone tools to export the V3 phonebook into .csv file.
Now open both .csv files in excel and modify the V300 file to be of the
same format as the V3 file, e.g. if the V3 has the name in the first and
the phone number in the second column, change the V300 files to have the
names in the first and the numbers in the second column too. Save the
changed file to a third .csv file and take a look at the files with a
text editor to make sure the new file uses the same delimiter character.
Use search and replace if it does not.
After that, try to export the modfied phonebook to the V3 and see what
happens.
