I have a v60g from TMobile and I already have an unlock code that they gave
    me.

I was hoping to unlock it in case I want to take the phone elsewhere or
    sell it.

Here are the instructions I was given:
    1. Insert foreign SIM
    2. Power the phone on and wait for it to ask for the code
    3. Enter the unlock code
    4. Press OK and the phone should be unlocked

Is there a way to just unlock the phone now, without having to wait until I
    have a foreign SIM?

Agian, I already have the SIM and I don't want to break any TMobile rules,
I just figured I could have the phone unlocked w/o first selecting a new
    carrier. Possible?

    Thanks.

Walk into a carrier, tell them your thinking of changing, you want to make
sure the phone will work and could you see a SIM for a second. Just that
simple. TMOBILE will not know, or care, that you have unlocked it.

i unlocked mine (from T-mobile using their supplied unlcok code) without
using a foreign SIM. it worked perfectly. only used a foreign sim a few
weeks later to make sure it was unlocked.

Just call t-Mobile to get the unlock code. If you have been with them
for 90 days, they will give the code to you. You could put in any
other SIM card, and then enter the code. Your phone will be unlocked
forever. You do not need the unlock code anymore. Any SIM card will
    work with the phone.

    Good luck.
