Every time I plug my charger into my new T720, the ring settings change.
I have it set to vibrate and ring on incoming calls, but when I plug the
charger in, it changes to "Loud" only. Anyone else notice this? Is there
something I've done to cause this anomaly? TIA.

Mine does that too. I'm not sure if there is a way to disable it as I
haven't tried. It suited my needs for it to switch. My V60i does the same.

This is standard Motorola functionality of LONG standing. The idea
is that you have it on vibrate, and put in the charger. Since it
obviously is no longer on your person, the phone changes to "loud"
while the phone is in the charger, so you will be able to hear if
a call comes it. It reverts back to the the previous setting when
you unplug the charger. This is desirable behavior for most people
(you don't have to remember to change the ring when you plug it into
the charger), but for some reason, they don't provide an option to turn
it off for those who don't want that behavior.

Thanks, Charles. I didn't notice that it changed back automatically when
the charger was removed. Nice feature, after all.I'm beginning to
like this phone.

See Charles' reply to my first post. Neat feature, huh? Wouldn't want to
disable it now.

This is a long standing if somewhat unannounced feature of Motorola phones.
Usually the display and / or keyboard lights (if extant) come on too when
external power is applied, since this no longer drains the battery.

Re: New T720 changes ring choice when charger is plugged in.
This phone only lights the external display and keyboard/display for 20
seconds when plugged into the charger. I would prefer that they stay
lighted constantly while plugged in, but can live with it the way it is.
So far, I like this phone.

Re: New T720 changes ring choice when charger is plugged in.
You guys seem to know your stuff on the moto t720, could you answer
these questions if poss?
What is the latest firmware? Mine has got T720_G_05.06.18R
Can it be upgraded at a local Motorola service point? The phone is
just over a year old, so I think it's out of warranty.
Thanks guys,
Chris

Re: New T720 changes ring choice when charger is plugged in.
That sounds like a GSM one and the firmware often varies from carrier to
carrier. Your carrier should be able to update the firmware.
