I don't know much about cell phones, so I am trying the experts. Can anyone
recommend which is the one to buy my wife. Reception is probably the most
important feature.
Thanks.

Re: Which is better? Nokia 3595 or Motorola T720?
Hello there:
I have the 3595 and I think the reception is excellent and the
battery last a long time.
The small problem I have is during the day, I cannot see
the screen very well.
Sorry, never had a Motorola, but I figured this would help
somewhat.
Regards,
aa

Good reception on both, but the Motorola has mechanical issues and the Nokia
has a low quality screen (very hard to see in bright light, not so pleasant
in average light, possibly the worst color screen I have ever seen).
I would get her a Samsung model for good reception without motorola
problems. The Nokia 6610 has a better screen, but I haven't tried it for
reception. My only complaints on the recent Samsung models are lack of real
MIDI and IR compatibility (requires samsung software and ringers in their
own format) and the menu system is a little bit entry-level, which she might
prefer anyway if she isn't a phone phreak.

Have a T720 and love it, best reception on a cell I ever had. Lots of
features as well, if your wife is into that stuff. As for the Nokia, never
owned one before so I can't help you there.
Good luck

I've had my Nokia 3595 for a couple of weeks and I like it very much.
My daughter has the T720 and she likes it. It sure sounds good
when I talk to her but I've never operated it. I guess they both have
similar features and both seem to be popular phones so I would
think it more or less boils down to a choice between a "straight"
phone (3595) or a "flip" phone (T720).

I had a nokia which I replaced with the 720 and couldn't be happier. Better
reception and clarity on both ends. Also, the 720 has a 2 year warranty.

Oh! I wish I'd seen this thread earlier. We own BOTH the T720 and the
3595. If reception is the most important feature, the 3595 has a slight
edge over a T720 on the same network, in the same areas. We've actually
TESTED them, side by side, while driving around. We weren't deliberately
comparing the phones to each other, we were trying to decide if a new
provider would work for us in the areas that we'd be using the phones most.
But during the test, I did observe that the 3595 was slightly better at
holding a good signal than the T720.
However, I could recommend *either* for your wife. From someone who owns
both and has used both, I can tell you that the useful features of these
phones are nearly identical. The audio quality of the Nokia (both ways) is
slightly better than the Motorola. Overall, I think the Nokia is a better
value, as it is (from what I've seen, anyway, unless there is a promotion I
haven't seen) significantly less expensive for a phone that has virtually
the same features and better reception and audio quality. Having said that,
the T720 has the cute factor that nothing but a flip phone could have. In
spite of the 3595 being an overall better phone, I don't think your wife
would be unhappy with the T720. It's not bad, and it fits so easily in
purses.
Another thing to consider is ACCESSORIES. We usually get brand name (OEM)
accessories off Ebay. But accessories for the 3595 are cheaper and easier
to find than accessories for the T720. So if the T720 costs more to
purchase, it's going to cost more to accessorize, also.
I think your wife would actually be happy with either phone. If you held a
gun to my head and ordered me to THINK FAST, the 3595 is what I'd recommend,
though. While the T720 is a nice phone, it isn't better than the 3595, and
the T720 will likely be significantly more expensive to own. Thus, the 3595
is likely a better value for you, especially if you are most concerned about
reception. -Dave

There was something wrong with your Nokia, or the network it was on. I've
owned many Nokia phones, and currently own three nokias (including a 3595)
and a T720. Comparing any Nokia model to the T720 for reception or clarity,
the Nokia will be slightly better in both areas. That's why I'm telling you
there was something wrong with your Nokia, or the network it was on. Not
that the T720 is a bad phone. I like the T720 myself, and I'm a huge nokia
fan. But it's not accurate to state the T720 has better reception or
clarity than a nokia. While the reception and clarity of the T720 is more
than acceptable, any nokia (on the same network) will do a little better on
both counts. -Dave
