WTF is with this company (Nextel)? They have the most expensive phone
plans of any carrier I can find. YES, I know, they have P-T-T and YES
that feature is nice (when it works) but cost is a joke.
Example: If you want the "Unliimited Plan" its going to run you
$199.99 a month ( I dont like worrying about if Im going to go over my
minutes). By comparison, the phone company in my area has AT&T service
and they are offering an "Unlimited Plan" (long distance & roaming)
for $60 a month ! (No P-T-T of course). So does that mean that Nextel
wants $140 a month for Unlimited P-T-T? All the other carriers seem to
be trying to get your business and stay competitive with plans,
    pricing and promotional offers.
Nextel on the other hand seems to think they are the "god of gods".
Their coverage is no better than anyone else's. It sucks like the rest
    of them.
Then, when your yearly plan runs out, they try to entice you with 100
bonus minutes and some ridiculous "number guard" bull. I tried to
speak with 4 different Nextel CSR's the other day (I was extrememly
nice). I told them I was interested in finding out if they have any
"competitive" plans more in line with the rest of the carriers. Each
and everyone of them told me (in different words), "Sorry Charlie. We
have what we have and we dont care if you dont like that". I mentioned
that I was very satisfied with my other 2 phones from AT&T of many
years and that I might be inclined to cancel my 3 Nextel phones and
plans. They really didnt give a ****. How nice to be so damn
independent that you dont care how you take care of your customers. Id
lose each and every customer I have if I treated my customers they way
Nextel treats theirs. Just for the record, none of the CSR's I talked
to this time were rude, unlike the many other times Ive had to call
    for various problems.

Dont know what phone company youre talking about. Please inform us all, if
it exists. ATT doest not have an unlimited minutes plan for ANY of its
minute counts. (Neither local, national, or one-rate.) Nice try though.

A good plan was offered last month, sorry you missed it. 1000 anytime,
unlimited night/weekend, unlimited direct connect, no roaming/long distance
    for $55.

att does have an unlimited plan and i know a few that have...however, i was under the impression that it was $100, not $60.

    Fred:
i'm not sure so correct me but doesn't att have roaming that regardless of the plan you'd be on you would still have to pay roaming charges should you leave your home network??

I do see what he is saying though. The one size fits all attitude of
most large companies is discouraging especially to those of us that are
small business owners who bow and bend daily to entice and keep
customers. I am to the point now that I expect bad service, and am
actually surprised when someone goes out of their way to do their job.
Kind of a sad state of affairs!

i didnt see it on the website, but if it's true i believe you. i think their
"one-rate" scheme is the no roaming at all while "national" is national att
network. at least thats how i perceive it.

    Re: Nextel Crappy Plans

I don't see it on the website either for unlimited...but I know in the
South East they have a partner network called SunCom and they have
unlimited for $50 and if you roam you get 300 "just in case minutes"
    including long distance...not bad.

    I have a Nextel promo plan I got in Nov. 400anytime + 200 bonus,
unlimited NWDC, Long Distance. But I'm thinking to go up one to 1000
minutes...They never offered that awesome plan here in my market, so the
only options I get are the Local Instant Connect either 700 = $49.99 or
    1000 = $59.99, unlimited DC, unlimited night/weekend (plus $15 for the
unlimited NWDC, 2-way text and 100bonus minutes) add $1 for Caller id,
or voicemail. I don't really use long distance so no biggie. So IMO I
think Nextel is not too far off from being competitive!

They're aimed at BUSINESSES who need the unique features they offer.
They're also well prepared to do business on a corporate level.

Other phone companies want to do business with retail individuals, and
aren't set up for corporate needs.

So ignore them. Why do you care? If you're not using PTT, then any
    carrier fills your needs.

hrm... you pay for not having to worry about how many minutes you use. And
I havn't seen any other carriers currently that are offering a nationwide
all-you-can-eat plan. Some/all of them have local all-you-can-eat, but not
national.. at least not that I've seen, and I'm always looking around, just
so I know what's out there.

As for super high prices.. I have 1500 AT (1000 plan, 500 bonus), unlimited
N/W, unlimited DC, Free LD, and Free Unlimited internet and all I pay is
$54.99/month. I don't know about you, but I can't find anyone that can beat
    that.

It always amazes me that a bill can be provided every month, in much greater
detail than the majority of other bills, and people complain that they have
been overcharged for years. I'm sure Nextel (or any other comapny for that
matter) would be much more willing to help if the customer showed due
diligence and actually reviewed their bill each month.

This should read "check ALL OF YOUR BILLS very carefully". In the last
year, I have caught billing errors with my landline provider twice, cable
company twice, doctor's office more times than I can count, and even my
mortgage company once. None of these errors lasted more than a single
billing cycle. Why? Because I actually read the bill instead of just
filing it away. And in each of these cases, the company in question was
more than happy to correct the mistake and send out a new bill? Why?
Because I actually read my bill instead of just filing it away. See a

What in the world is so hard to fallow about nextel's bills? I find that the

Try nextel's free incoming 250 plan ( I call it the Shaniqua Plan). It
comes with free incoming calls, free night and weekends, 2 way messaging,
voicemail, caller ID and free long distance for 49.99 during Febuary. The
only thing you have to be careful of is your outgoing calls during the
weekdays, but if you can call people and tell them to call you right back
its not that big of a deal.

    Re: Nextel Crappy Plans

Same thing happens with every company. Your contract will tell you that you
must file your dispute with in so many days of the bill being printed. If
you didn't bother to read what they mailed you and didn't file a dispute to
have it corrected it's your own fault. Try reading the policies for your
bank account, credit card, student loan, etc. etc. etc. This is a common
accounting practice with most every company that you have any financial
    dealings with.
