I have been a happy Nextel customer for over five years and still am a
customer. But after changing all our locations nationwide and our outside
sales reps, some 60 phones, we've discovered their coverage is way less than
ATT, Sprint and Verizon. I can't say it any other way than to say Nextel
    coverage sucks!

Now one third of our users have had to switch back to the other players
because they are missing and/or dropping too many calls from coast to coast.
The standard 15-day return policy was not enough to do proper trials with
sales reps who only come home off the road every couple weeks, so we really
got caught with our pants down. They said we'd get the best deal if we
ordered and deployed all of them at once. That was a bad idea. I'll take the
blame for that. But the bottom line is they just don't have the coverage.

A word to the wise: Don't give Nextel to anyone who travels outside of major
    cities.

Especially in mountainous regions. If it makes you feel any better, two of
my friends work for companies that did the same thing. Thought it would be
great to have Nationwide DC but didn't realize they didn't have the coverage
they had w/their previous provider and ended switching back after a couple
    of nightmarish months.

You should have looked at the coverage maps. You didn't do your homework and
    now Nextel sucks, right?

No the coverage sucks, and the maps suck, no details, not even secondary
road, just a big blob of color that may or may not have coverage.

Boost Mobile which uses Nextel's network has even less coverage and the same
incompetent, we don't care, customer service standards.

If you need a cell phone, buy a real phone, not some radio masquerading as a
phone. Nextel is not a cellular company.

I usually rack up between 1500-2500 minutes per month. I travel
statewide for work and have never had any trouble with dropped calls,
    signal loss, or anything else.

I'm sure I would be the same with someone like yourself on the other
    end of the line.

What we need is a real troll.... not some monkeyboy ****stick
    masquerading as one.

    >Nextel is not a cellular company.

And this is not here. And I'm not laughing at you.

Look at the maps and you tell me you see differences so large you could tell
the coverage would be so poor. One problem is, Nextel map goes way out but
then they say when at the borders of the coverage they don't guarantee it
will work when indoors. I wish I was making this up.

LOL !!! I did *my* homework and duly noted that Nextel covered my local
area, completely, without a doubt...until I got home and found that if I
ever manage to get my cell phone to connect I better not switch hands
(or ears) during a call because I'll lose the connection and the phone
    will read "no service."

Nextel phones do not roam, it is good for specific areas only.
If you want coverage you should have gone to Verizon. I carry both, one for
coverage when not in home area, and the other for D/C.
