I just got the i870 and love it. It's a great phone.

I do have a question though. Has anyone figured out a way to let you use
mp3's as ring tones? I have a few mp3's on my computer I'd like to put
on the memory card or to the phone it's self via the memory card and use
    them as a ring tone.

Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts.

You can't assign ringtones off of the memory card.. You still need a jal loader (like webjal or myjal)to get the ringtones on the phone. Keep in mind Nextel makes millions a month selling the ringtones they don't wish to give it up that easily.

I totally understand Nextel not wanting to give up that money. It just
    sucks

here is my question does WebJal and MyJal work with the 870? I know the
copy of WebJal that can be download off several websites is a rather old
version and the MyJal website (gomyteam.com) doesn't offer any useful
contact info if you are not a user.

    Thank you,

    TC

    Re: i870

    Greetings,

I have an i870 and I was able to use WebJal with it. I purchased a
ringtone CD off of eBay and it had 4 different webjal applications, as
well as a ton of ringtones, wallpaper, & applications, etc. You also need
to purchase a data cable. The cable has a USB connector on one end and a
connector to the phone (same as the charger).
