    Greetings all,

I've lurked here for a while hoping to get info about my phone, but
it's not a popular phone anymore.

I have an i730 for my phone at work, and I'm looking for help to do a
few things I haven't been able to do myself.

First, enable the GPS.. I downloaded the GPS upgrader, but it works
for every model of phone but mine (i730t). Downed super agent and
carrier, and the gps is supposed to be activated, but apparently isn't.
(also, every version of s/w I've been able to find works on the 30.xx
codeplug, and mine has the 3c.xx)

Next, I'd like to finger out the details how to get ringtones to
upload. I have webjal and can get java games and wallpapers to load,
but never ring tones. Got one once, but the volume was low, and never
got another to up since, I keep getting baud rate errors..

Also, I'd like to mess with the voice recording. I can record, etc,
but I'd like to be able to down the recordings to a pc as a file, since
they are stored on the phone. (I obviously already have a cable, it's
    the usb)

Also, what other tools are compatible with the i730? MPT? MSS?
    Which versions?

    Thanks,
    D~

The GPS is enabled. What are you trying to do with it? Unless you purchase
a GPS app from Nextel, the only thing you can do with the GPS on the unit is
    find your location.

As for the other questions, I'll let the modders respond.

That is all that I'm trying to do.

However, no matter where I am, it shows the same lat/lon. When I hit
refresh, it goes to "scanning for satellites" forever. I once left it
all weekend, still "scanning" monday morning. Location doesn't matter
either, it can be in a building or streetside in a field.

How old is the 730? It may need the GPS reflash, which can be done at any
    Nextel Service Center for free.

The unit must be out doors, and it can take a long time (1hr+) the first
time it acquires the satellites. It took what seemed like forever to get it
to do it on my 730, but it did eventually and refreshes were faster.

It's about 1.5 years old, but a hand me down from someone in the
office, I work in the field doing telecom, and have had it for about 3
    months.

On the motorola website, and they had an update to repair the GPS on
all models of phone, but mine. (i730t)

This I know.. My old i305 GPS worked for a while, then quit, then
worked again after the gps upgrade. It would work if I left it on the
window sill or dashboard. This just won't.

It probably needs the GPS re-flash.
