Looks like it's gonna be an early holiday season with NEXTEL deploying
the phones in October. :-)

These new phone plans suck. The old Shared Value 300 for $39.99 is
replaced with a Shared Value 200 for $49.99.
Phones are nice though.

Re: New Plans and Phones posted
The new plans (Atleast in Tampa) are awful! The prices go up, the
miuntes go up SLIGHTLY, and they take away LONG DISTANCE ON MOST
PLANS!!!!. What kind of crap is that?
Nextel is going to go down FAST here in tampa espically after the Nov 24
# switch goes into effect. I know I for one will be leaving Nextel and
grabbing the life boat of another carrier that offers many more minutes,
long distance, and text message in there rate plans!

Re: New Plans and Phones posted
i remember seeing a picture of the back. thats where the speaker is. so
either you flip the phone around to listen or turn it up obscenely high and
broadcast your convo to the world. (before i get the "speaker phone is so
obnoxious in public" line, let me say that LOUD speakerphone is different
from one set at an acceptable level that, coincidently, sounds like a person
talking. no one complains when people talk in public, do they?) point being,
that is IMHO a serious design flaw that resembles other carrier's game boy
phones.

Yep phones are cool looking but I doubt that I will run out and get the
i730 as soon as it comes out.
As far as the plans, if you don't need long distance it looks like that
Instant Connect 500UDC would be the way to go. With unlimited weekend
minutes and 500 anytime minutes it breaks the 40.00 barrier. I may put
the wife on it as she is on the former Direct Connect 250 plan that is
at 45.99.

Ohhhh gotta love this feature:
"One Touch Direct Connect - Set your phone and instantly connect to
the last Direct Connect call or an assigned contact by pressing the
PTT button from the main idle screen."
We had a customer who had the i500's with no cellular on them, so they
had us change the default screen to "private ready" (i.e. the phone
wouldn't default to the Phone ready screen). Now, anytime they'd bump
the PTT button.. you guess it. "HELLO?????"
We had to reprogram all the phones to default back to phone ready.
I see this as something people will accidentally turn on, then call
back up customer care / dealer and need to turn off.
Come on, on the i85, it's a matter of down button (selects last
contact), PTT. WOW, 2 buttons.
To e-mail me, remove theobvious from my e-mail address.

Sure sounds a bit too inconvienient...and like you said, too much of an
ability to accidentally bump it. 2 buttons is better.
