Im trying to connect my 72501i to my pc but my pc isn't detecting the
phone. I have connected the phone via a DKU cable through a usb port
and have downloaded and installed the drivers and Nokia PC suite yet
still the connection manager is saying no phone detected. I am running
Win XP Home. Anyone got any suggestions?

    Many thanks

    Hello, Bisto.

It seems you have non-original DKU cable. PC Suite works only via
    original cables produced by Nokia.
Please try our Oxygen Phone Manager II - http://www.opm-2.com, it
works with almost all cables and adapters.

If you will have any further questions, please do not hesitate to
    contact us.

    Best regards, Oleg Fyodorov.

In case if you are using non-original thirdparty cable, it may not be
regonized by Nokia PC Suite. In this case, we can recommend to use
Oxygen Phone Manager II for phone data management. Please, do the
    following:

    1) Install Oxygen Phone Manager II. You can download the trial version
    here: http://www.opm-2.com
    2) Remember virtual COM port number, assigned for your USB cable. You
can view this number in 'Start' -> 'Settings' -> 'Control panel' ->
'System' -> 'Hardware' -> 'Device manager' -> 'Ports COM and LPT'.
Ususally this number is greater than COM2
    3) Set this COM port's number in 'Tools' -> 'Options' -> 'Connection
and common' -> 'Connection' -> 'Add port' in our program.
    4) Left-click once on DAU-9p sign.
    5) Select DLR-3/DLR-3p from the popup menu.
    6) Press 'Ok'

This will connect the phone. Please, don't use 'DKU-5' option, as it
won't function, if you are using third-party or 'DKU-5 compatible'
    cable.

If you will have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
    Best regards, Maxim Vyalkov

    Hi Bisto,

Don't jump for Oxygen software- it may cause more problems than it is
worth. Where did you purchase the DKU5 cable from? Do you have any
information on it- whether it is a genuine Nokia cable or a third
    party cable?

When you install the drivers for the DKU5 cable, which com port is
assigned in the device manager of your PC? Does it list itself as
    active?

The quickest software to test whether it is an active connection is
    MobiMB, from http://www.logomanager.co.uk/download.php

It is quick and easy to use- and will work with the 7250i and any DKU5
cable. MobiMB has fewer problems than other third party software such
as Oxygen, and will not cause crashing or deletion of data on the
phone. I had problems with Oxygen which they did not help me to
rectify. Whereas MobiMB works a treat.

Thanks for the helpful advice. My cable is in fact 3rd party. I kind
of guessed it would be the route of the problem. Alarm bells should
have rung when I bought the cable and the saleman said it didn't need
any software. I'm just too trusting. It's not listed in the device
    manager at all!
I'm off to try MobiMB. See if I have any luck. Not to optimistic
though. Probably best to bin the old cable and go for the genuine
    article.
    Watch this space.

Hi- good luck with it. Just been reading up about it, and you may have
better luck with MobiMB, as long as the manufacturers of your cable
took in to account the different voltage of the 7250i compared to the
7210 which the cable is also sold for. Guess you'll only know that if
it works! If it doesn't work, it seems like the genuine cables are a
    tad expensive: http://www.logomanager.co.uk/php/cat.php?id=110 but at
least they guarantee it will work.

Personally, I would recommend infrared connection- I use the Actisys
    one shown at http://www.logomanager.co.uk/php/cat.php?id=124

    -slightly cheaper
-more versatile- will work even where Nokia change the pop ports etc
    with newer phones
    -looks great!

I can vouch for the company too- not that I need to, as LogoManager
has been around for an age. I bought my adapter from them and it
arrived in 2 days. No issues with drivers.

    Hello.

Don't you want to think out something new about Oxygen Phone Manager
except "crashing or deletion of data"? ;-) I understand that it's not
a good time now for you, Mike Bradley, and for your software, but
please do not fabricate those false accusations about Oxygen Phone
    Manager.
And please stop hiding behind this nickname, it's becoming
ridiculous. If someone will go through all your posts he'll find
nothing except recommending software from logomanager.co.uk. The
conclusion is evident. Yes we're competitors, but let it be the fair
play. It's much easier to abuse our software hiding your real name
behind nick than to improve your own products.

    With best regards. Oleg Fyodorov.

Why bother, I'd have thought that would have been enough on its own if it
    were true?

Are the Oxygen team really this paranoid, or have you been taking lessons on
how to behave from the various flasher box teams (Prodigy, Twister etc)? My
10 year old gets in arguments in the school playground that make more sense
than your comments. As for your comment regarding "fair play", I suggest
you take your own advice! I've never seen Mike Bradley publically slate
Oxygen, but I have seen continual criticism coming from yourselves.

As has been pointed out to you many, many times in the past, there is enough
room in the market for yours and Mike Bradley's products. Oxygen is
undoubtedly the most comprehensive, but if people don't require some of the
features in Oxygen, then MobiMB or Mobius may well be a better choice for
    them.

Many people have a problem with your restrictive licensing regarding how
many handsets may be used with Oxygen - neither MobiMB or Mobius have this
    restriction.

You've been a regular user and supporter of this group for a long time, but
in my opinion, over the past twelve months, your posts here have degenerated
to mostly spam or confrontational posts against a rival product. You've
received a lot of moral support from the regular posters of the group when
idiots come asking for cracks for Oxygen, and it would be a pity to see the
people who have supported Oxygen turn away due to your attitude.

Also, whilst I'm having a grumble at you, would you please not top-post, it
only makes the thread harder to follow.

Whoah, slow down there - you talking to me? Must admit, I have been
mistaken for other people before, but usually when I am in a shop or
restaurant with my back turned, never on a newsgroup! What planet are
    you on?

I am guessing that it is not Bisto you are accusing, but me, as I
mention LogoManager stuff in my posts. Well, at least I even it out a
bit compared to your posts! I happen to use their software, and like
to recommend good stuff- is that a crime?

I can send you the bill for the Nokia repair to my phone, if you want
    me to.
