I'm getting this phone tommorrow (it should have been here today, but lets
not go there....!).
Has anyone on this NG got this phone yet? If so, what do they think of it?
Is there anything I need to be aware of?

Re: Does anyone have the Nokia 6260 yet?
After you have tried it out, please write a report on it for us here.
Anyone have any info as to when it might be available in the USA, and on
which carriers?
(Anyone have any idea as to why the USA is usually the last place that new
phones come to, and sometimes not at all? Not just with Nokia--even
Motorola, a US company. Is our FCC more thorough in checking phones before
approving them? Or?)

I've got the phone (I received it on Thursday 04th November).
First impressions:
1) Nice looking (silver version)
2) A little larger than my 7250i but
3) About the same weight as my 7250i
4) The "Cancel" key is in an awkward place
5) The "twist and fold" is great.
Good points having been using the phone a few days now
1) Camera is excellent quality, much better than my "old" 7250i
2) Ability to record videos upto 1hr (space permitting i guess) is great.
3) Sound quality on videos is great (but see below)
4) Phone seems pretty regid. This is my first "flip phone" and I was worried
about it being rather fragile, it doesn't seem to be.
5) Navigational / Menu system is a good idea (but see below).
6) Alpha-numerical keys are larger than on my 7250i (I'm a bloke, therefore
have quite "chunky" fingers. The keys on my 7250i were far too smal for my
liking)
7) Ability to have phone closed with the screen on the outside for when
browsing the net.
8) Ability to use the "proper" net on it. I was even reading this NG via
Google Groups earlier today.
9) PIN - Protected keypad locking. Something I've been hoping to see for a
LONG time on Nokia handsets.
Bad Points:
1) Cancel key in awkward position, but I guess I'll get used to this.
2) Mic doesn't seem very good when recording videos. It only seems to pickup
sounds that are LOUD and very close by. *But*, its a phone, not a camcorder
I keep trying to convince myself!
3) as 5 & 6 - Navigational system is a good idea, but the quad-directional
button with the select button in the middle is a bit awkward for my big
fingers. A "clitoris" style navi system would have been much better (I mean
like the one on the 6600!)
4) Phone is a bit on the slow side to boot up, but this is probably because
it uses a "proper" OS (Symbian).
All in all:
A great phone, well designed both in terms of style and functionality. The
layout of the keys should have been more thought out and better-planned, but
the positives far outweigh the negetives
NINE AND A HALF OUT OF TEN!
HTH's.

Re: Does anyone have the Nokia 6260 yet?
Thanks for the review.
You mentioned the sound quality on videos, but what about the sound quality
as a telephone? Reception? Dropped calls? Volume, both incoming and
outgoing?
Is the size similar to other clamshell type phones? (The picture looks like
it might be larger.)
Anyone have any info, as to when this will be available in the USA, and on
which carrier?

Sound is great, as my Nokia 7250i's was. No "dropped calls", Reception seems
as normal. Volume is fine too.

It is a little larger than most clamshell phones, but IMHO worth it for the
features it packs in.

I wouldn't be surprised. All I'm saying is that over the years, it is
something that I hoped Nokia would fetch in. My 3110 didn't have it, nor did
my 5110, 3210, 3310 or 7250i for that matter.
