I'm finally getting round to 'convergence technology' and am trying to bin
my aging PalmPilot in favour of my 6600. Contacts, To-Do and Calendar all
    sync fine but...

....does anyone know a way to make the Notes bit sync up?

    As ever, thanks in advance.

I'm sure it's appalling Netiquette to reply to your own post but I've
thought of something else - I can't get recurring stuff to sync either.
    Please help my limited brain!

    Rob,

There does seem to be a problem with synching recurring items which has been
around since the Psion 3 days. For some reason, Psion/EPOC/Symbian does not
understand recurrences of the type 'every second Tuesday. On my old Psion,
it seemed to convert this to putting a non-recurring item in for each
occurrence, which meant loosing the ability to update it, but with my 6600,
it just puts in the first occurrence and then puts a message in the log to
say it couldn't understand the recurrence.

Sorry can't be more help, but it looks like something Psion don't think you
    need!

    Geoff

Re: 6600 Notes Outlook Sync Simpleton

    Thanks, Geoff

I gave up in the end and bought a Dell Axim running Pocket Windows 2003SE.
This has made me a happier but poorer man. I can't see how Palm can stay in
business with such a lack of Windows compatibility and their HotSync program
being not nearly as good as Microsoft's marvellous ActiveSync (I'm so
excited about the Mobile Favourites synchronisation I'm beginning to suspect
I actually am the nerd I was told I was when I was 13).

In a mad fit of excitement and a due to a dislike of yellow and beige (and a
liking of blue) I gave my flexible friend another hammering by buying a copy
of Office 2003 Pro to replace the Outlook 2002 version which came with the
Axim and the 6600. Guess what - Axim syncs to Outlook and Outlook syncs to
6600, including the recurring items. Notes are still stuffed though.

I drive past the Psion factory on my way to work and am sure that as soon as
they stop hanging around the carpark smoking and do some work they'll
eventually work out what they need to do <g>
