I just got the 6820 and I'm looking for a good Bluetooth headset, not
knowing too much about it I sent an email to Nokia, below is what they
sent. I'm looking at the Jabra BT800 because the belt clip for the 6820
is a pain to take the phone out of, and I've answered a few calls that
I didn't really want to when I took the phone out, so I figured the
caller ID was pretty cool. Any advice???

Re: 6820 Bluetooth Headset Help
It's not going to "cause damage to your phone that cannot be repaired."
is it? I can't imagine a head set doing damage to my phone... I can see
some functions not working...
I do like the style of the hs850 - Just the caller ID thing on the
Jabra is pretty cool.
Thanks for the info!

I'd go to a store and try them on for comfort. Couldn't get on with
the Motorola headset that came with the V600 I trialed, it bounced
around too much. I've got a Jabra BT200 which is much more
comfortable, now updated to BT250V. YMMV.
You won't be able to see the caller ID screen if the earpiece is on
your ear.

its hilarious that they told you it could damage your phone. its also a load of BS. They just want you to purchase one of their headsets...however they are correct in saying that their headsets are the ones that are tested and proven to work best with your phone.
The truth is...bluetooth technology is a "standard". Meaning that each bluetooth device created has to adhere to certain rules and guidelines. You'll notice with some headsets they are bluetooth 1.1 compliant, and some are 1.2 compliant...basically the newer ones are supposed to work better with such things as battery conservation, and are less likely to drop the BT connection, etc. I use two motorola headsets with my nokia 6820... a HS810 and a HS820...I love them both. I dont know how i used to live w/out a wireless earpiece and voice dial. My personal recommendation is the HS820...for the price...its a great performer, and I've tested most all of the other BT headsets. Then again, with a lot of them its a personal preference...take the other guys advice as well, and try them on in a store. theres nothing worse than getting an expensive earpiece that feels funny on your ear or won't stay on.
But that whole causing damage to your nokia phone is a load of crap...I'm using the same phone with two moto headsets...so I'm the proof that they are wrong.
hope this helped ya.The Progression: Nokia 5165 --> Moto v120t --> Moto V60ti --> samsung s307 --> Moto V400 --> Blackberry 6280 --> Sony Z500a --> Nokia 6230 --> Nokia 6820
I'm almost as addicted to Cell phones as i am to VW's. Almost.

Re: 6820 Bluetooth Headset Help
Thanks for all the info. And FLyGTi, it really did sound like BS, which
is why I posted the email here. Especially when it was explained how to
purchase one of their sets from Nokia's site... Gotta love it! Get
sales by using fear. BUY OURS OR DAMAGE YOUR PHONE FOREVER!!!
MMMMUUUUHHHAAAHHHAAA!!! Anyway, I will take all your advice and pop a
few on my ear and see what works out the best.

Re: 6820 Bluetooth Headset Help
If you wouldn't mind, let me know how you like the HS850. The more I'm
looking at these, the more I like the style of the Moto's.

Re: 6820 Bluetooth Headset Help
I had a Jabra earwave boom for my old 6800 and it wasn't bad, but I
didn't like the "bug" inside my ear. It felt like a bug inside my ear!
There were a few sizes of the "MiniGel" inserts, but they all felt
weird. Who knows, maybe I'm just weird. So I was hoping to get an "on
ear" vs "in ear"

Re: 6820 Bluetooth Headset Help
I'm surprised that no one mentioned the Motorola model 805; it runs on a
single AAA battery (that lasts forever), and costs a whopping $48 at
WalMart.
