    That's an early version. Get it to a service centre under guarantee (take
    the docs Orange sent you) and they'll update it for nothing.

    Mine is a later version and it's still flaky and inclined to disconnect with
    a "SIM missing" message.

    Shame, if it worked it'd be a great phone.

    Well do as you advised original poster.6230 is now on firmware version
    5.35.Im using 5.24 and it works flawlessly,great phone

    Will do. My first one had an internal clock fault that meant it would not
    take an upgrade, my replacement one now needs the upgrade to work properly.
    Just a matter of finding the time to get it to a service centre...
