Newbie....GPS & Nokia

Can someone advise a complete newbie?...
info on nokia mobile phone & and GPS navigation kits please..
or should i buy a seperate unit such as the new Garmin 310 ???.

With the Nokia 6230i being a Series 40 phone only capable of Java I
would be surprised if you will be able to interface GPS to it.

If you want a phone that can interface with a Bluetooth GPS unit you
would need to consider a Series 60 phone. Nokia 6600, 6630, 6680, N70
are some of the Series 60 phones that can do this with additional
Symbian software. Otherwise you will probably have to get a stand alone
GPS unit.

It will depend how hands on you want to become. There is people that
have it working successfully using only J2ME & bluetooth. Not sure if
the 6230 complies with the J2ME Location API. If it does it is a bit
easier. Check the tech docs on the Nokia site.

For example http://sourceforge.net/projects/gpsmobile/. There are also
some implementations using the TomTom GPS units. But it will be very
helpful to have some basic knowledge of J2ME.

I fully agree otherwise - if you want something "out of the box" for
Nokia phones you are much better off with a Series 60 or 90 phone.

It's turn-by-turn navigation with voice-instructions (50 languages, 100 voices, and works almost worldwide). Works perfect with my old TomTom bluetooth GPS receiver.
