The problem I am having is that the Nokia PC Suite will not connect to
my Nokia Cell phone over Bluetooth.
I have installed a Cable & Wireless USB Bluetooth adapter - the
software that comes with this adapter will connect to my phone and I
can transfer files. Adapter model no.BTA10CW1.
I have installed the Nokia PC Suite - but when I try to use the "Get
connect" wizard and select Bluetooth - I get an error message that
states "Cannot use the connection type. Check that all the needed
hardware, software and drivers are available."
I have read all the Nokia manuals - and the bluetooth software manuals.
Cannot find this British Cable & Wireless on the web - so maybe if
someone knew where they were that would be helpful.

They probably won't be much help but you could leave a "Contact us" script
for them.
If it's any consolation I have exactly the same problem with a 6310i and
several versions of PC Suite. There's nothing wrong with my BT adapter and
software, it works fine with my other phones and their software but PC
Suite....

Assuming that you have pc running Windows XP SP2, you should have
bought a bluetooth dongle that works with the builtin Bluetooth
drivers. I don't know exactly how the datasuite software works with
Bluetooth, but I would assume it uses the windows bluetooth stack so
it doesn't see your bluetooth drivers. One thing you might try is
to create a port specifically for the Data suite to use for bluetooth.
Or, buy a Belkin BT adaptor.

I had a similar problem when I installed a new BT dongle. In order for
PC Suite to connect to the phone I had to remove the drivers that came
with the dongle and use the standard Windows (XP SP2) ones.

I have to ask...
Did you install the newest version of Nokia PC Suite over an older version?
If you did, you may as well hang it up. If you get online to the Nokia
Europe Forums, you'll discover the mess. Yes, I already know about their
cleaning software and all the other stuff related to the update issue. It's
just buggy.
So far, my newest PC Suite over the older has been a disaster. Many in the
forums expressed the same. Some re-installed Windows XP which seemed to
have worked as far as not doing an update, just the latest. I'm not that
far in my solution...yet.

Re: Nokia PC Suite Bluetooth connection not happening (6230)
Have you had your bluetooth dongle working at all?
A major problem with Windows and bluetooth is that Windows will
automatically try to install the device using its own generic drivers.
That's fine unless your dongle uses something like WIDCOMM drivers.
Often you can install the software but Windows assumes that it knows
better and will not install the drivers over its own.
What you should do is go to Control Panel/System and look for the
bluetooth dongle. If Windows has used its own drivers, it will be
listed as 'Generic Bluetooth Device' or 'Radio'. Right click the entry
and select 'Properties'. Then go to 'Update Driver' under the 'Driver'
tab. Browse to where you've installed the bluetooth software and select
the inf file for your device (you MAY have to try 2 or 3). When you've
done that, OK everything, shut your computer down and restart. This
should get your dongle working OK.
Also, if it's plugged into a USB port, make sure you always plug it
back into the same port, if you remove it. Bluetooth really is a pile
of sh*t when it comes to drivers and ports.
In fairness to PC Suite, most of it's problems are with cable drivers,
bluetooth usually runs OK once you've sorted the drivers problem.
Hope this helps?

Re: Nokia PC Suite Bluetooth connection not happening (6230) -sorted
Thanks for all the inputs.
I checked the Nokia site and made sure I had the latest Nokia PC Suite.
Then since I couldn't find the Cable and Wireless - I went looking for
the software they supplied separately - "Blue Soleil" and found it.
There I was able to get a newer version of this software.
I uninstalled everything and reinstalled the lot and it is now working!
Should have mentioned that I am still using Windows 2000 - maybe soon I
can treat myself to a new laptop and WinXP.

Re: Nokia PC Suite Bluetooth connection not happening (6230)
Belkins dongle uses the Widcomm drivers. I was unable to get it to
work on my 6822 with PC Suite. I had to search for a hacked 5.0
drivers from Widcomm. After that it worked like a charm. Belkins
site only has the older set that was useless. I would try updating
your drivers IF you use Widcomm driver set.
