Dear ng,
in my Nokia 6230 very often the memory for sms messages becomes full. Is it
possible to allocate space for the sms messages on my MMC memory chip (1 GB)
?
Thanks, Marcel

No. The emount of memory is fixed in the phone. I think there are spacce for
150 messages. Quite rediculous when each message takes 160 bytes af raw
text and some header data. Say 256 bytes. Thats means it could save 2048
messages in 1 MB space!

Thanks, but now I am very confused & surprised.
Using Nokia PC Suite I see that of the 8 Mb phone memory about 6 Mb are
still free ! Is there maybe a setting controlling the maximum number of sms
messages stored ?
thanks, Marcel

Nope. The rest of the memory can only be used for stuff like pictures and
soundfiles. I think even Java applications have their own reserved space.
