N73?

Hi,
Considering getting N73. Any experiences of this phone, good and bad?

I have an N73 and very happy with it, apart from the service provider
locking out some needed features but that is a separate issue.

Third party software is starting to appear rapidly, so that is not an
issue either. There is more than enough internal RAM compared to my
previous Nokia 6680 which used to choke it's self and reboot regularly.

The only thing missing that is starting to appear on mobile phones is
802.11 wireless but that isn't really an issue either.

I don't suppose you've got a CK-7W as well that you could test a direct
cable connection with?
Looking for a replacement for my 6680, but nokia has pretty much
stopped supporting direct cable connections to teh CK7W, certainly fo
rthe N series.

I have an earlier version of the CK-7W without Bluetooth (originally
used for my Nokia 7250i) and using it with the CR-27. The CR-27 was
intended for the Nokia 6680 but works fine with the N70 and N73.

Does it now. Hmm. was it the CARK126? I just sold one of those.

I know that there are differences in these kits . i.e. hte 6680 won't
work with the old controller unit for the cark126

Hmm. Nokia are being as helpful as a chocolate fireguard when asked for
information. They are even telling me that the new 6288 will not be
compatible with the CK-7W, even though the 6280 0is, and the 6288 is
supposed to be just an upgraded version.
They really are shooting themselves in the foot here.

price for another handset to replace it, as it was so bad. Constant
crashes, freezing, other weird behavior, slow, the list goes on. After I
got my other handset (Sony Ericcson W850i) I put a hammer through the
screen of the N73 - I was that pissed off with it - and I usually keep
all my old phones!

That sounds a bit radical, and a bit over the top. The N73 screen is
really nice! I love my N73. It's never crashed or frozen, synchs
automagically with MS Outlook every time I walk past my computer, has
a couple of hundred eBooks and all my favourite photos and music on it
and room for lots more.

It is a bit slow opening up the mobipocket ebook menu, but it's
virtually instantaneous when opening up a selected book from the menu.
What's more, it remembers where I am in each book, so opens up on the
correct page when I return to it.

The only serious N73 problem I am aware of (acknowledged by Nokia) is
a tendency to early failure if used in a very high humidity
environment - like Townsville in the wet season.

So I guess the conclusion that you can draw from that is that, like
cars, some phone models from any maker will contain the odd lemon.
