    Nokia PC Suite 6.83.14.1
    XP Pro

About a week ago the Nokia PC suite reported that it had an update.
Everything was working perfectly with the phone and I'd even got my
bluetooth headset working with the PC. Then I stupidly agreed to an
update - why fix somethine that ain't broken ! ...but I did.
It has been a complete disaster. So far I have tried system restore
and installation of the latest Toshiba bluetooth stack (V5), amongst
    many other things.
The PC Suite indicates that it can't connect to anything at all - not
only the bluetooth. It has mucked up the bluetooth connection to my
headset too and Logo Manager won't work either now. What a shambles!
I've tried everything I can think of. I can't install the bluetooth
audio driver now because it says the name is already in use as a
    service.
Has anyone had problems with the PC Suite and found a solution?

I had similar problems when I upgraded to that version recently, couldn't
connect and other odd things. Evidently a certain registry entry is not
deleted, but, if you download the Clean Up Tool from
http://europe.nokia.com/A4144912 then uninstall PC Suite, run the cleaner
to remove all registry entries then install again it should, hopefully,
solve it. Well, it did for me.

Thanks for that Rob. I had tried 'Registry Mechanic' but this
dedicated piece of software might do the trick, I'll give it a try.

Did that little cleaner tool fix the toshiba pack problem for you?
Reason why I'm asking is because I wish to get some feedback about/for
this fix before competely trying it out myself.... So were you able to
use the 6.83.14.1 Suite after installing and running the reg fixer tool,
    Or not? Thanks in Advance

I used Reg First Aid initially, but, that failed to fix it too which was
odd. The Cleanup tool works well.

Not sure if Brian will reply, by his absence I'd say it fixed it. If you
are having a problem with installation of latest update to PC Suite there
is no reason to not try it. Back up your archives etc. first as it will
probably destroy them with the fix.

Does anyone know if this problem has been fixed yet?

I have Version 6.82.22.0 and don't want to risk the upgrade and possibly
    balls everything else up!

If there is not a later version since 6.83.14.1 then obviously not. If
there is a later version then it should be in the Changelog.

On the Nokia site it just gives the latest version as 6.83...helpful!

The cleanup tool worked OK for me too.
Should it be possible to read the simcard contact list with PC Suite?

If you'd clicked through a little further to Download it states the file
is Nokia_PC_Suite_683_rel_14_1_eng_web.exe. So a further update to the
problematic one is not out yet.

You're right I didn't go that far. Think I'll stick with what I have then.

Seems strange that this "fault" seems so widespread and Nokia are
    ignoring it?

If an earlier version is working for you then there doesn't seem to be any
need to update, after all I didn't notice any added features etc. I
sometimes think that some updates are for the sake of updates to keep
    their tech staff in work.
