    Hi. I have a Nokia 3595 cell phone, and my service provider is T-
    Mobile. This cell phone has been broken. Specifically, the screen is
    damaged to the point that nothing can be seen on the screen. However,
    the rest of the cell phone works well.

    Well, I need to copy the list of contacts and phone numbers to the sim
    card. However, since I can't see the screen, this will be a problem.

    Here is what I need:

    If someone on this newsgroup has a Nokia 3595, that person can tell me
    which buttons to press. For example, I know that I have to press the
    "Right Selection Key" to get the contacts menu. However, I don't know
    how many times I have to scroll downward using the "Scroll Down Key"
    to get to the "copy" selection on the contacts menu.

    So, I need someone who has a Nokia 3595 to tell me which buttons to
    press, step by step.

    By the way, my sim card has a T-Mobile logo on it, if that helps.

    Thank you very much in advance for any assistance.

    Until then, try the phone's documentation. Chances are the owner's
    manual would have what you're looking for.

    I've given the details below, and included the
    screen display info in case you can see at least
    a bit of it.

    With the very important disclaimer that there are
    different models of the 3595, and the menus may
    be slightly different, here's the info from my
    own 3595, which I got from T-Mobile a few years
    ago, and has a t-mobile SIM:

    Step one: unlock your keypad (if needed)
    by hitting the "menu" button, then
    the "unlock", which is the asterisk
    at the lower left.

    Then:

    go to the up/down toggle switch in the
    center just below the screen.
    (This moves you up and down in the list
    of contacts).

    Push it "down" to retrieve the first name

    then...

    Left button (next to the toggle). This
    is labeled "details".

    The display will now show you, at the
    very top, the label for this entry, and
    in the center will show you part of the
    number. In the lower left the display
    will change from "details" to "options"

    Press the buttong under it. You'll
    now have a multiline line display that
    starts off with "add voice tag".

    hit the "down" toggle
    and you'll get -> (started with "add voice tag")
    -> edit number
    -> delrte number
    -> copy number <- <-

    (and if you continue past that, you'll get:
    view
    add number
    add detail
    caller groups
    send business card
    send message
    1-touch dialing
    edit name
    view name
    delete
    - and then cycle through again)

    At "copy number", hit the left side button
    again, which had now been renamed to "options".

    Hitting it changes the label to: select,
    and gets you to:
    -> keep original
    (and if you hit the "down" arrow,
    you'll get " move original").

    Hit "select" (the left button) and you'll
    hear a quick beep, and the display will
    now show "copied" for a couple of seconds,
    then go back to showing the number.

    Then hit the _right_ key, which is marked "back".

    If you hit it once you'll be back at the entry number
    you just moved. If you hit it twice you're
    back to the very top menu.

    To get to the second entry, go through the
    process, but this time hit the down arrow ai
    second time. Rinse, lather, repeat.

    NOTE: if you "keep original" rather than "move" it,
    there will be _two entries_ now for each number,
    one from the memory, one from the SIM.

    Danny, thanks a lot for your response. However, I was told by a T-
    Mobile customer service rep that there is a way to copy ALL of the
    contacts to the sim card AT ONCE.

    That is what I am looking for. There may be over 100 contacts in the
    phone.

    Thanks.

    Ahhhhh, I just looekd around Google and found the hints:

    http://www.qa.nokiausa.com/support/s...,9353,,00.html

    anyway...

    a: unlock phone

    b: hit the right sided button just under the screen
    (it's labeled "contacts")

    c: that'll chenge the screen display with "contacts"
    at teh very top, then will list various options:

    first one -> Find
    second -> add contact
    -> edit name
    -> delete
    -> copy

    (and then, if you past it)
    -> add number
    -> settings
    -> 1 touch dialing
    -> voice tags
    -> caller groups
    -> own numbers

    Anyway, when you're at "copy", hit
    the "select" button (left side).

    new menu:
    -> from phone to sim card
    (and if you hit the arrow)
    -> from sim card to phone

    use "phone to sim card", hit "select" on left

    new choice default -> one by one
    -> all
    -> primary nos

    so you'd go down one arrow push...

    hit "select", then you get the default
    choice -> keep original
    -> move original

    hit the "select" key, then
    your choice is -> Copy Entries ?

    the left key is "ok", the right key is "back".

    I didn't hit the "ok", but I'd guess that would do it.

    I would just take it to a T-Mobile store. They'll do it for you with a
    sync cable, probably for free.

    Or you could buy the software and cable from Susteen.

    Danny, your advice worked like a charm. Thanks a lot.
