    Piracy may not involve stealing the software but does involve stealing the
    money you would otherwise have needed to pay for it.

    In order to steal (assuming you're using its meaning of "to practice, or be
    guilty of, theft", not an alternative definition) the money you'd have to
    remove it from its rightful owner. Since you're not doing that, but rather
    keeping your money instead of paying for the service, it's still not
    covered by the definition of the word theft.

    IIRC I posted the above weeks ago now. Since then I noticed a few posts
    from americans in other forums that the DMCA consistently never refers to
    copyright infringement as theft. So seems the americans (assuming those
    posters are correct) adhere to the definition of the word while the UK
    (based on Shad's statements) take some liberties with what it covers in
    their legislation.
