My first mobile phone, friend talked me into the 6200. It works great in
a strong signal area, even if I leave it on for hours it's fine. But if
I get in a low signal area, after some time, usually hour or more, when I
hit any key to dial out or check it, it lights up, but shows no signal.
When that happens I -have- to turn off and on again, it will never pick
up another signal again, no matter if I'm at a full max signal area, no
matter what buttons I push (so far).
And when I turn it on again it might register two to four bars of
strength, so I would imagine it's been getting that.
I don't see any mention of this behavior in the manual. Is this common
for a cell phone to lock itself out and not try to pick up a signal again
after some inactivity? Or should I take this one back, as it's only 8
days old? I saw similar questions on other models, though this seems a
bit different.
Thanks very much for any input!!!

AFter this sage bit of advice I started making more calls. Seems there was
something strange with either the card, phone, or firmware according to
techs. Further confirmed later this week as the phone would loose signal
within an hour in full strength area, and especially when I would hit
options and it would give me a blank screen with a blinking cursor. Wow, I
must have been in superprogrammer mode!
Returned the phone and getting a replacement. Hope this one is okay, after
many recommendations on Nokia quality. (good)

In every batch, you'd find a defective unit. Its the same everywhere, except
at Lexus when it comes to automobiles.....
