I was playing megaman eXtreme on my phone using goboy
(www.wildpalm.co.uk)when I was interrupted and just set the phone
down. When I returned in about an hour the phone was off and didn't
boot...now even when it is plugged into the charger I can only get
"Nokia" to display and then fade out. The phone cycles through that
three times and then turns off. I can't boot into safe mode with the
pencil key by holding it down as I turn the phone on.
My first guess is that the flash memory was filled by goboy and now
there isn't enough room to boot the OS.
I suspect I'm going to have to send it in to a service center so they
can "flash" the phone, which I believe means they will restore the
flash memory to its default state.
Question 1: Has anyone heard of this problem before? Is there a
better fix?
Question 2: If I play my cards right will the service center flash the
phone without reading what is on it and let the warranty still apply?
If not, how much will this cost?
Sorry for just asking a bunch of questions, but I just got my first
cellphone a week ago and don't know much yet.
Thanks for your time,
Jason

Re: Nokia 3650 boot failure question
Seems like you must have it in the charger for awile and then press the
powerbutton and hold for som seconds.
Remember that nokia 3650 has 16 MB of memory and hav 2 check this each time
you turn it on. That takes 15 seconds.
Hope you get it to work again.

Re: Nokia 3650 boot failure question
playing goboy on your phone doesnt void your warranty since you havent
been tampering with anything.

Yes, it's true. Mine shipped with a 16Mb card from Nokia. Of course,
3rd party cards are cheap if you need more memory.

That cannot be true. If it were, my 3650 with a 128 MB card would
require two minutes to boot up. The 3650 has 4 MB of phone memory.
Boot time is not merely a "memory check", the phone has to actually
load the symbian OS, just like the little computer that it is.

The 6600 has 6 MB of phone memory compared to the 3650's 4 MB.
Both are expandable via MMC. The 3650 comes with a 16 MB card
standard, as I'd expect the 6600 will as well.

Re: Nokia 3650 boot failure question
Hello,
I have the same problem with my phone. I turned it off last night and
left it charching. This morning it wouldn't boot. My carrier has agreed
to replace the phone under warranty, but the problem is I have A LOT of
data on my phone. I need to boot it and make a phone backup to the
memory card so I can restore it to the replacement.
Reading this message thread I found out about powering up holding the
pencil key down, but it didnt boot my phone on "safe mode" either.
Any suggestions will be more than welcome,
Erasmo.
