Hi.
Just obtained a 6210 from ebay in the last few days.
It's has firmware v3.01, and was thinking of upgrading it.
Any suggestions of which firmwares to stay away from, and which would be the
best ?
Currently it occasionally locks up when playing about with the AT command set
(using a DLR3 cable).
Anyway, also wondering which software would be best to use for reflashing it and
which cable to go with it, I can make any cable up no problems - so long as I
have the circuit diagram.
I currently have a DLR3 cable, which allows using the FBUS and the AT modem
modes (depending on the state of the DTR line).
Thanks for any help.

Just put the latest (and I believe final) version on it.

For preference, a Dejan box and WinDDP or WinDLS.

Not enough, you can't flash using data cables. If using a Dejan box, see
above, and if using basic flasher cables, I believe Rolis is supposed to be
OK.

For around £15, a Nokia Service Centre will update the firmware on your 6210
(as it is no longer under warranty). It is a better option than risking
ruining your phone for good.

Well, theirs a UK company that will fix it for £12 if I did mess it up.
So I'll have a go first

Huh? You can't download a Dejan box, it's a hardware dongle.

You can download all the info on how to make one though, including pic code etc.

Re: 6210 Firmware upgrade.
Cool.
My first ever flash and it worked first time using a home brew flasher and mbus
leads
Used Rolis v4.78/EEProm Tools v3.1, and followed these instructions ...

Thanks for the info.
Happy flashing.

True, but at the price you can pick them up complete with cables, it really
isn't worth building it yourself.

Well, it only took me 1/2 an hour to build the flasher and mbus interface, so
not a lot of work really. I had all the bits I needed laying around already so
was easy enough.

Re: 6210 Firmware upgrade.
Update it to 5.56, PPM C (I would read it with Rolis 1.9 B2 first to check
PPM type)
Just done one myself, this weekend...

Re: 6210 Firmware upgrade.
Not very good that,
It is best to use Rolis 4.77 and Rolis 1.9 B2 (for faid).
4.78 is very buggy and Eeprom Tools can be quirky... Rolis 1.9 B2 is much
better...
(Or use a nice proggy/hw kit I have - so much easier! ; ).

Thanks for the info. Just downloaded Rolis 4.77 and Rolis 1.9 B2, will use them
next time.
What kind of kit do you have ?

Re: 6210 Firmware upgrade.
Read the eeprom out first and check has read properly using a hex editor.
Then it is impossible to overflash the eeprom data forever,
Just restore the backup...
But if you do it right, no danger anyway...

Re: 6210 Firmware upgrade.
I have only ever really used this on 3310 and 3330, tho it will do others...
I tend to use a product called LP2001 which flashes em all no problem,
including 3410 which WinDLS stupidly has not been updated to do - I guess
they don't care now. The only problem is the faid doesn't always write.
Or says it hasn't. I tend to use Rolis 1.9 B2 to fix that if so - works
every time. But the flashing part works brilliantly... Apparently, they
supplied me a low powersupply. I need something beefier - so if anyone
knows where can get one.... Over 500ma I need.
