    Greetings,
I know some of you have mentioned that the Orange (in UK) service now
appears as "Orange UK". (Instead of just "Orange"
Well I was wondering of anyone had got the Service ID numbers that allow
you to send the blank operator logo (to leave a clean screen)?
This was working fine for me when it was just displaying "Orange" but now,
if I send a blank logo I am still getting "Orange UK" whatever I do.
    Has anyone solved this yet?
    Thanks and best regards.

You don't say what phone you're using..!

Just out of interest, why is it a problem to have the phone showing "Orange
UK" or whatever on the display..? If you've got more than one phone on more
than one network, it's very useful ;-)

BTW my 2 Orange phones still just say "Orange" with no UK..

It is only a problem becuase when using a blank operator logo you can trun
off all teh screen clutter and your wallpaper picture looks much nicer.

It is Nokia 7210. But that is irrelivant to be honest.

It's not Irrelevant if the phone was a phone that didn't support op logo
    replacement,

One more question is the phone a UK supplied phone ?

Sorry guys but I think I didn't make my original question clear:

I am using a UK supplied conracted Orange Nokia 7210.

A while ago I discovered (from this group), that you can send a BLANK -
TRANSPARENT operator logo to the phone which will not display anything on
eth screen when operator logo is switched on.

This is nice if you have a picture on the screen and you do not want to
have ORANGE or so on over the top of the picture.

I have done this successfully here in UK and alos when I was abroad in
Dubai. You simply make a blank logo in logo manager and send it your
phone. But you have to know the operator codes so that it knows when to
    display the blank logo.

Recently, my phone started showing "Orange UK" instead of "Orange". I
tried sending teh blank-transparent logo but it still shows "Orange UK".

Sometimes the "Orange UK" reverts back to "Orange". I can then turn on my
blank logo and everything is fine.

This happens randomly and not when I am moving location.

So, I am new to this but I think I have figured out that when the phone
is displaying "Orange UK" it is a slightly different service to plain
"Orange". If you look at Logo Manager or many other of these utilities it
will ask you to type in numbers that represent your operator codes.

    For example:
    23433=Orange;United Kingdom
    42401=UAE ETISALAT-G1;United Arab Emirates
    42402=UAE ETISALAT-G2;United Arab Emirates

So now you see. That Orange seem to be changing codes so I was wondering
if anyone knows the codes for ORANGE UK as opposed to ORANGE.

    Phew!

    Best regards,

You need to set your NETWORK to manual in your phone settings.
ie: it will be on AUTOMATIC you need to set it to just ORANGE that way
when you change your opp logo for ORANGE it will be blank, its only
changing to ORANGE UK because you have only replaced the ORANGE logo
and not the ORANGE UK logo.

Hope this is clear to you.

    Very clear and thanks, but:

When the display changes to "Orange UK" you can then try and replace the
operator logo with a blank one but it doesn't work. (Becuase the network
    code is different)

So I guess setting a manual network setting is the only answer at the
    moment then.

They will only provide an unlock code for the original purchaser. Unless
you can prove that you're the original purchaser (or extremely lucky) then
    you're SOL.

Then you're out of luck. Although you may be able to activate the SIM card
in the USA, unless you were the original purchaser of the phone (i.e. you
didn't buy it second-hand) then they won't unlock it.

    There is a way Richard,

When registering the orange sim card you can give them the IMEI of the N70 -
and then a week later down the line you can ask them for it unlocking.

We have done this a few times - but be aware you will have to pay a small
fee to orange unless you have a good enough reason, e.g - your going
overseas to visit friends and family and wish to use the phone back on
orange when you return - but when away you wish to use a different sim.

Sometimes they will buy it and give you the code for free - but not always.

You learn something new every day. Every time I've seen it tried, Orange
insist that they will only provide unlock codes to the original purchaser of
the handset. Also, I've never known them not to charge for providing codes
but it wouldn't surprise me that different tubbies provide a different level
    of service.
