Just a quick question about Nokia phones.
I know that the Nokia 6600 has personalised Ringtones, but i'm just
wondering if any other phones in the Nokia phones have the ability to
download your own midi ringtones onto the phones. I don't mean getting
ringtones from O2 or whatever, but putting your own midis on, like Sony
Ericsson phones have.
Any advice would be appreciated.

Re: Which Nokia phones have personalised midi ringtones?
The 3589 does but the Nokia Suite can't download them appears to be a bug in
the Suite software.

Speculation is that it is not a "bug" but an intentional de-featuring
by request of (at least in the US) Verizon so that they can encourage
you to buy ringtones with Get It Now.
Though I have not tried it, MobiMB from LogoManger is said to have the
ability to upload ringtones to the 3589i. See

Yes I heard the same thing and I have downloaded MobiMB but the ringtone
download feature is not enabled in the evaluation version. Sorry but I am
just not going to buy a piece of software over the internet without being
able to test it first. I contacted the company and they said they have the
feature disabled because of hackers. Apparently they send you a new version
once you buy. Their theory is that if there is no code then there is
nothing to hack. Pretty good theory but I wonder how many customers they
lost (like me) because they were not able to test the software fully. Seems
to me that someone who is willing to take the time to hack or at least track
down an existing hack isn't going to buy the software anyway.

Not the point: someone who has hacked the software is likely to put
the hacked version out there for others to download, so the company
loses business.
It's only like $22 for the software, isn't it? You saw the basic
interface of the software - should be enough to figure out whether you
should spend the money or not.

Re: Which Nokia phones have personalised midi ringtones?
The Nokia Suite does what I want for free (except for downloading
ringtones). Since I have a problem downloading ringtones to my phone, I
really don't want to spend $22 not knowing for sure it is going to work.
Your right they can put it out there but not just any internet provider will
host those files. Plus someone that is willing to post a hacked file is
just but the program and post that.

Re: Which Nokia phones have personalised midi ringtones?
The nice folks at MobiMB sent me am unrestricted version to evaluate. I am
happy to say that ringtones work just fine on my Verizon 3589i with MobiMB.
So either they have found a way around the block that Verizon supposedly
puts on ring tones or more than likely, there is a bug in the Nokia Suite.
