    Hello...

I have a quick question. I am thinking about getting the new VGA
1000 (SHH-A620). I have read a lot of reviews and it seems like a
decent phone... HOWEVER, the phone is advertised as having a
Calendar, To-Do List, Alarm, Timer, Calculator and Clock. Now, that's
fine but I was told by a sprint rep that the clock WILL NOT work or be
viewable when the phone is not in a service area - or not receiving a
signal. In other words, the calendar reminders and any other clock
related functions are USELESS if i i am in an area where there is no
service signal. So, if i do not get service at my work desk, the
phone will be rendered useless...? Is there any way around this or a
fix or something? What newer sprint phones do keep the clock in all
areas? See I am used to a nokia with cingular which would keep the
    clock no matter what....

I heard on some sprint phones that you can set the clock in some
sprint phones so the area you are in doesn't matter... Please
    advise...

    Thanks,

    Chris

Mostly not true. After the time has been set by the system, the clock
continues to function no matter where you are as long as the phone is
on. What's true when you're outside a CDMA signal area, or beyond ANY
signal area at all, is that the system will not automatically update
the time if you've crossed a time zone until you're back in a CDMA
area. The clock continues to function, however, until the battery
dies. I assume all the other time/date related functions would
continue to work as well, based on the last system time update until
the battery dies or perhaps is removed. The clock also continues to
work in analog service areas, but without the automatic update. The
phone may go into power save mode, but you can "wake it up" by
pressing any key. It'll search for a signal with the clock working
    just fine.
