I've seen some posts in the past about Poughkeepsie coverage. I
wondered if coverage has improved, especially around Hopewell
Junction, near I-84, and along Route 9 in Dutchess County. Are users
generally happy with Sprint as a wireless carrier? I'm torn between
Sprint and Verizon.

If SprintPCS wopuld meet its obligation under the Industry wide Consumer Code,
and issue a map of other than a rediculously small scale, one could look at the
map and tell.

It's 25 miles north of there, but I was surprised at how solid
service was a few months back when I was traveling around Rhinebeck,
Annandale, Tivoli. Back road areas, down by the river - all fine.

The coverage on Taconic still sucks.

Hmmm...elsewhere in this thread I wrote that I visited the
Rhinebeck area and had good coverage wherever I went. I took the Taconic up
and down, and while I wasn't checking every mile, my wife and I did make
and receive calls along the way without (apparent) dead zones. Can't
explain, just observing. Sanyo 4900's btw.

Ive taken the Taconic from its southern origin point up to the Copake
area, coverage is mediocre but it is usable it most places. I don't
agree that it sucks but YMMV. BTW, I have Sanyo 8100

Hey guys,
There are quite a few dead zone between Poughkeepsie (HWY 55) & Fishkill
(I-87) exit. I commute several times weekly between NYC & Hyde Park.
