I remember hearing that the new PTT "Ready Link" phones would also have a
NON crappy built-in SMS (Text Messaging) client similar in useability to a
    Nokia.

Is there anyone that can confirm this? As using Vision to send/recv SMS
totally blows in the current incarnation.

I didn't see any capability like this in the RL2500, but the VM4500 does
    have it.

At present, you get a message saying the service hasn't been launched
yet when you try to send and SMS. So, it looks like the front end isn't
    ready yet.

So the VM4500 DOES have the actual client built-in to the phone as opposed
to visiting and using a crummy web-site on the phones browser?

Oh God I hope so, Text-Messaging on my Sanyo-6400 is TEDIOUS as you can
    imagine, both sending and receiving.

Yes it does. The system isn't active on our network yet. But it looks=20
on track to go live about the middle of the month.

Yes. On the VM4500, you go to the messaging menu (from the Main screen,
press UP on the D-pad), and it's Item #3 - "Text MSG." It's a fairly
    slick interface too.

I don't text anyone for that very reason. I will start when they
finally turn this service on though.

Any speculation as to whether we can expect to see a Successor to the
    6000/6200/6400 with these new features?

I love the Form Factor of my 6200/6400, dont mind the fact that it is
greyscale, and REALLY enjoy its uncanny ability to hold a signal and make
    calls.

But I do want a PTT phone with the New SMS client. Decisions Decisions.
