PCS Vision

When you get the free 2 months Vision with a new PCS Vision phone, which
version of Vision do you get? From what I have been reading there are 3
different offerings; Business User, Gameer, Photog.

Which one do you want? For something like the camera phones, we=20
generally put on the Pictures Pack, but you're allowed to choose any of=20
the three if you have your heart set that way.

don't include and the corresponding costs?

This is the problem! It does *not* say:
"If you choose "Plan A" you can do the following things
at no cost (x, y, z). However, if you choose "Plan A"
and you do the following *other* things (a, b, c) you will pay
the following extra costs to do those things ($a, $b, $c)."

How is a customer who *has* Vision supposed to know when
they are doing something that is not included (i.e., is an
extra cost)?

How is a potential customer (who wants to buy Vision
and has to make a choice of the three plans) supposed
to make an informed decision?

If they choose Pictures Pack, what will cost extra and how much?

I want to add Vision, but before I do, I want to know
1) what I am getting, 2) what I am *not* getting, and
3) what will cost extra and how much.


Sprint's web pages are long on marketing fluff and short on
specific useful information. Here's what Sprint's web page says:

1) PCS Vision Pictures Pack
Take, upload, and send an unlimited number of pictures
with Picture Mail. Includes unlimited web-based messaging
and web access.

On a link to a different page it says:
Unlimited Picture Mail — take, upload and send an unlimited

I have the picture option, and with that, I can do all three examples above.

If you are getting a camera phone, go with the Picture Pack option. You will

I am really trying to understand this, and I really appreciate your
effort to explain it.

You say that you can do all three.
You say that you have no extra cost.

So the point is . . . then why are there *three plans* (Picture,
Premium, Professional) and the customer must designate *one*?

If, with one plan, you can do *everything* and there is *nothing*
that is an extra cost, then there's really no need for "three plans".

Rob has said things which *appear* to contradict what you
have said:

"I mean, you may pay more for not being on the package that
includes the service, but it's still available."

"If you're a player, but decide you need Business Connection,
then you can retain your Premium Pack, and simply have BCPE for
$5/month more."

"PictureMail is included in the Pictures Pack, but if you want
to keep your Premium pack, then you can do that, and PictureMail
is then $5/month for unlimited access."

I suppose the real question is why does Sprint make this
so convoluted.

If there is no feature or service that cannot be done under any
plan *with no additional cost*, then there should be only one plan.

If there is any feature or service that when done under *one*
plan is an additional cost, then they should be specific.

That's right, no extra cost. That doesn't mean there aren't extra costs
though. If I download ringers, screen shots or games, I'm not eligible for
the credits that are given, as I don't subscribe to that feature. I
subscribe to the Picture Pack, which providers a vault to store my pics on
SPCS's server. I also don't use the Business Connection. If I did want to,
it would cost me $5/mo.

Because each one offers a separate feature, that's why!

Wrong. The Picture Vault is not provided at no charge for the gamers or the
Business Connection folks.

They are specific, you just aren't reading the differences between these
three different options.

This is interesting. I have the old orginal unlimited vision, since
we all all asking questions, do the currrent vision plans offer more
than the orginal plan does.

In the example I gave above, I *intentionally* took one feature
from each of the *different* plans/options.
Emphasis on "DIFFERENT" plans.

How could it be "included in your plan" if the features are from
*different* plans -- and you only have *one* of the plans?

Here's the text from the Sprint web site again:

1) PCS Vision Pictures Pack

^^ No mention of 2) ringers/etc or 3) email in this plan. ^^

2) PCS Vision Premium Pack
Download *RINGERS*, games, screen savers, and applications.

Read and send personal or company *EMAIL* with PCS Business
Connection Personal Edition.

What is puzzling is that you say that you have the Picture Pack
and have no extra cost (and I believe you), but the
ringers/etc and the email are part of *different* packs.

Rob has said "you may pay more for not being on the package
that includes the service".


Bottom line:

I buy Vision for my account.
I choose Picture Pack.
I send EMAIL. (Only mentioned in Professional Pack)

Will there be a cost?
If yes, how much?
If no, why is there a Picture Pack and a Professional pack?

I don't see where it's so convoluted. I have this=20
suspicion you're over-analyzing this. They are not three=20
wholly different plans. They are three different=20
"flavors" of the same service. Each one oriented towards a=20
different kind of user, but not meant to exclude any of the=20
other options.

Lots of people like, oh, for example, the Ford Mustang. =20
But some people opt for the smaller engine because it's a=20
style choice. Or some go all out for the Cobra.

Vision is something like that. Except more flexible. When=20
you sign up for Vision service, you are given three=20
different "flavors" from which to choose. Buying a camera=20
phone? You probably intend to use that camera, so we've=20
got a "Pictures" pack that includes Picturemail, unlimited=20
web browsing, and also a $5/month (use-it-or-lose-it)=20
credit for any of the "Premium Services" downloads we make=20
available within our service.

Don't think you'll use the camera? What *will* you use it=20
for? Those downloads? OK, there's the Premium pack, then. =20
Still allows the unlimited browsing, but it tosses out the=20
PictureMail and gives instead a $10/month credit for the=20
Premium Services.

Looking for something more business oriented? Then opt for=20
the Professional Pack. Still unlimited browsing. No=20
download credit. PictureMail *is* included now that our=20
two premier PDA phones have cameras. And we also include=20
BCPE, providing you a remote access solution for Lotus=20
Notes or Outlook at work.

I don't understand what make you think they're so=20
complicated. If you don't include PictureMail, it's=20
$5/month. Same with BCPE. SMS on the phone looks headed=20
in more or less that same direction. So, too, VideoMail.

Use what you think is going to fit your intended mode of=20
Internet access. And, if the pack doesn't wind up fitting,=20
move to one of the others. Or customize them with each=20
individual service. Take your pick.

I *strongly* disagree. My own experience with the vast=20
majority of customers with whom I've spoken much prefer=20
"packaged" options. They like the choices, but also like=20
the idea of making one choice to cover several factors at=20
once.

We tried that once, and got tons of negative feedback for=20
how complicated *that* made our plans seem.

Yeah, frankly, I think they do. I've opted to stay with my=20
$10 option from back then, also. But the $15 ones=20
definitely include more.
