After two weeks of calls to CS, I stopped by a Sprint store
and exlained my problem. They were willing to swap out with
refurbished 4900, but didn't have any in stock today - perhaps
tomorrow. Store rep recommended that I call first as inventory
    changes daily.

My Sanyo will be out of one year warranty at end of month and
I'm afraid I won't find another 4900 in time. They gave me a
choice to go with the Samsung A400.

Are there any outstanding issues with this phone? I'll miss the
speakerphone as its usefull while waiting on hold for Sprint CS.

Oh, only think I can think of is the text formatting is very slow,
i.e. to ***** out "ABC" you have to wait almost two seconds before
hitting the #2 key again or it will scroll the A to a B.

    Sorry...meant to say the 3G A500, not the 2G A400.

I think, except for speakerphone, it's a significant step up to the=20
A500. Oh, and it's got OK (but not great) reception.

About that text entry: With the A500 and 4900 both, you can move to the=20
next spot immediately by pressing the right navigation key. The N400=20
uses the SPACE/# key. So 2[right]22 actually results in "AB" (depending=20
upon the shift setting at the time).

Kinda funny...I was just on the phone to Sprint Vision support and
asked about the A500. The tech said it was not near as god a phone
as the Sanyo - mostly in the reception (transmissino) area. He
said that if I simply can't get a 4900, ask for the new "4900" with
Ready Link as its basically the same phone.
