How are you going to know if someone was jamming your signal?

Other than your phone not working inside a building, (which is quite common)
    how would you ever know?

I could be sitting 2 rows behind you in a theatre jamming your signal, how
would you know it was me?

You would first need to know there was a lot of noise on your 1900 mhz band
with a tunable receiver (not legal in cellular bands).

Then you would need some direction finding equipment, unless you're good at
direction finding using your body as a shield. Then you would need some attenuation
device since the signal would be too strong--I'm only behind you 2 rows.

A low power jammer would be very hard to find with the right equipment!

And a mobile jammer is nearly impossible to find, even if numerous people
are on the hunt. If I were a waiter in a fine resturant with a jammer on my
belt I could hit my kill switch if someone came in with a bulky spectrum analyzer,
snooping around. What are the chances of that?

Most people would never have an inkling of what was going on, much less how
to solve their non working phone dillema, other than to "go outside".

You say you would file a complaint with the appropriate agencies.

My question is WHO? I think the FCC has WAY more important problems to deal
with. They devote their "hunt time" for interference on commercial and govt.
    repeater, and trunking systems.

I'd put a directional on my HT and see where the signall was. Read last
    month's QST for details.

There _was_ radio before cellular, and some of us are not captives of a
    cellular carrier.
