"Save $50 when you shop and pay online.
Receive a $50 service credit when you complete the online purchase and
activation of a new Sprint PCS® Phone on a new line of service, and
enroll in online billing and automatic payment. This offer can be
combined with other offers, so it's a great way to increase your overall
savings." It says today on the PCS website.
It's the automatic payment that's problematic. You give Sprint the right
to put its hand in your pocket. NOT GOOD if you ever have a billing
dispute. You have very poor leverage when they already have your money.
"This offer ends May 31, 2004. Two-year Sprint PCS® Advantage Agreement
and qualifying credit required. $50 service credit will be applied in
two installments of $25 each on the first two invoices. May not be
available in certain markets."

Auto pay is no problem. I've had that set up since they first made it
available, 3 or so years ago.

A lot of companies are going the automatic payment route, sadly. Sprint
and AT&T Wireless heavily push this, andI'm sure it will only be a
matter of time before Verizon and Cingular start offering "perks" for
auto-pay customers... I am already getting inserts in my gas and
electric bills touting the benefits of auto-pay. I guess the world is
moving in a direction that leaves us old-fashioned "pay with a monthly
bill" people behind.

If they want automatic payment (and the do because of how much it saves
them), then share the savings with your customers. 5% off each bill for
automatic payment would be reasonable. A one time only $50 off for 2
years for new Auto-payment only does not cut it.

My newspaper offers a discount of some sort off monthly subscriptions
for people who use the auto-pay/auto-debit system. I guess I am old
fashioned in the sense that I just like paying my bills every month via
snail mail with a check. Because if the company you are dealing with
does make a mistake and charge you too much or too often, it becomes a
major headache to deal with and could throw the rest of your finances in
chaos until it is resolved.

A good website that can manage auto pay that I use is
http://www.mycheckfree.com. Never had problems with this site.

Wait a minute, challenged troll- you're the one always pointing out how they
are losing money quarter after quarter. Are you saying that they are
financially healthy enough to pass these types of savings on, or are they in
need of the cost savings for the balance sheet? Which is it- you can't sit
on both sides of the argument.

Same here, I've had it set up before I worked with them, I had one
small issue, and it got corrected quickly (and yes, before I worked
for them).

Nothing is ever a problem with Sprint for you, too bad so many other
folks do have problems, and the proof of that is the lowest rating for
Customer Service SprintPCS always gets.

Re: BEWARE of new Promotion
I've used auto pay with Sprint for well over a year with absolutely no
problems. In fact, I only have 1 monthly bill left that can't be paid via
the internet and that's a rent check to a local guy for a self storage unit.
My other dozen or so monthly bills I pay online. Love it. Never had a single
problem and not going to worry about it until something happens... if ever.
Though with you being the one making this claim, nobody here is going to
take it seriously...

Paying online is one thing, automatic payment where the vendor takes
your money is another.

Oh bite me troll boy ... I've listed some problems previously, which were
easily corrected ... with a phone call or an email.

Too bad the rating companies don't include the IQs of the respective
participants.

Re: BEWARE of new Promotion
If there is a dispute with any vendor when using a credit card you just file
a dispute with the credit card company. I've been using auto pay for over
two years now and no hassles at all, in fact I love it. If there ever is a
problem you can log on to the website and remove your card # from auto pay.
It's very simple.
