5300 vs vga100 need help

I remember reading here that someone had a fight with lockline because they
were sent a samsung vga1000 in place of a sanyo 5300.
Lockline said the 2 phone were the same and this person proved to them they
were not.
I need help!!!
Lockline did the same thing to me and I HATE SAMSUNG phones!
SO I need that list to thros it in their face and push for a 4500 or
something

Doesnt the 5300 Camera have Zoom capability that the VGA10000 lacks?

This is the whole thing in a nutshell. They are relying on the fact
that you are desprete, your phone is broke and at this point you will
accept anything they send you . In my situation, my lcd was wacked out
(actually it has been working ok for the last two days, go figure). I
could still use my phone. So when they sent me the replacement phone
that was not even the same brand, I found it not to be comparable or
better. I purchased a sanyo because of specific features and the phone
they sent me does not have these features. They are clueless call
center people who just repeat what they are told to say! Just *****
until they give you a supervisor and be prepared to go over feature
for feature. They will have no choice to give you a better phone of
the same brand.

No, the VGA 1000 has zoom also. 2x zoom in medium resolution and 4x zoom
in low resolution. No zoom in 640x480 though.

IIRC, the 5300 has an actual flash. I've never seen another camera phone
on Sprint that has a proper flash like that. The VGA 1000 simply has a
white LED that provides some extra light.

The 5300 has call screening. (It's a built-in answering machine. You can
hear the caller leaving a message on your phone's built-in memory.) I
don't think anybody but Sanyo has this.

Tell them that your phone has to have a real flash, and not some white
LED. Tell them that you use the Call Screening. For a real flash and
call screening, your only option is the 5300. Most phones are using a
bright white LED, which makes a good flashlight, but a crappy photo flash.

I know the VGA 1000 really well. You don't want it. Circuit City is
sending me another because of a handful of issues. Don't accept a VGA
1000 or it will be harder to get back to a 5300.

Looking at the comparison page at phonescoop, the 5300 shows, in
addition to Call Screening.

USB - Samsung has this too, actually.
PC Sync - Also available on Samsung.
Soft Keys - Sorta on the Samsung. The Menu and OK keys function as
softkeys as well. Sounds clunky, mostly isn't.
Digital TTY/TDD - Samsung actually has this too. Most current phones, if
not all, do have this. ##TTY then OK accesses this menu.

For me, the VGA1000 has been a bad experience. It has poor battery life,
very slow boot, poor stability w/ lots of reboots or freezes, lots of UI
bugs, sometimes refuses to place calls because of a non-existent data
session, voice dial tends to reset the phone, handset gets very hot, a
keypad backlight that is completely random, a call display that loses
track of who you're calling (Call one phonebook entry, hang up and
immediately call second phone book entry. Second entry name will appear
while the phone calls the first entry.) and a camera that often turns
itself on when I open the flip. (This is somewhat repeatable, so no, I'm
sure I didn't hit the button)

There is a firmware update that I had applied that stopped some of the
UI issues, but I had much worse RF performance afterwards. That update
also makes the external LCD light up whenever the volume control is
pressed while the flip is closed - previously, the external LCD would
only light when the volume is pressed for about a second.

On the upside, when the voice command system works, it's better than any
other I've used. You don't have to record the names of your voice dial
entries - everyone should do that, but only if they can do it without
crashing the phone. You can also dial by speaking the numbers. While
this was available on my A500, it works much better here. The browser is
nicer and seems faster than the 7200 at work. Speed dial works much
smarter than Sanyo. Any entry can be speed dial. Just enter the number
of the entry and hold the last digit until the call begins - entry 234
is 2-3-hold the 4. The screen is very nice, as are the menus. I feel
like I did when I ran the Mac OS X beta. What a beautiful interface - if
only it were reliable.

This has happened to me a few times. I have to remove and replace
the battery when this occurs.

I sometimes push the camera button on the right side inadvertently.

I've been wondering if I should get the firmware update done.
Has anyone else experienced worse RF performance afterwards?

This afternoon, I had this problem. The dialog box couldn't be dismissed
this time. It told me to press OK, but it wouldn't go away. I held the
talk button until the voice dial menu appeared, and I could make a call
again. I don't know if it will work next time, but I was happy.

If you set your keypad backlight to something on the long side, like 30
seconds or flip open, you don't find that your keypad backlight goes out
in about 8 seconds? I first noticed this when I set both my main display
and keypad to 30 seconds. The main display was on much longer.

Yes, tried to make it clear that it was _my_ experience. I should tell
you that I've seen other people at Sprintforums.com complain about the
VGA 1000. Most people seem to have fewer issues than I have. Many have
simply had problems with some sort of beeping noise made by the phone.
I've never had this happen. Most have been happy with the firmware
update, though the change on external LCD backlight behavior and failure
to resolve this beeping issue were not well recieved.

I updated the firmware on the second of this month, and since then, I've
had trouble getting through a fifteen minute call without having it
dropping, even with a good signal on the indicator. Could it be
something else? The person at the counter gave me a hard time, could
they do something malicious?

Right now, my phone is plugged into the charger. An hour ago it played
the removed from charger sound. It's now back to two bars from three,
and nothing I can do will make it charge again...

Nevermind, unplugged the charger from the wall and plugged it back in...
I wonder why unplugging it from the phone didn't work. In fact, it
played the removed from charger sound when I pulled it off the wall.
Maybe my charger is going out now too.

So basically you agree with me. The Sanyo 5300 is a more feature rich
phone to the Samsung VGA1000; and the VGA1000 is not a proper
replacement by Linkline for the Sanyo 5300.

Yea, I was going to mention that with the 5300, unless you are within 3 feet
or so of the subject for the picture, the flash is not all that useful.
