I'm currently looking into getting a cellular line with Verizon
Wireless but am getting conflicting information from both customer
service at Verizon Wireless as well as the dealers. My question is:
Does the $34.99 (if offered) provide for included LD to Canada (ie: no
additional charges aside from airtime usage?) My alternative would be
to go with the $39.99 plan if that does have the LD to Canada.

Any one know if any other carriers provide "included" LD to Canada?

It used to depend on market. New York and the Northast and Southern
California did on America's Choice (!) and I think the South market did on
AC also. This is going to change. Within a month or so, no VZW markets will
    include Canada in AC.

North America's Choice is available, with calls to/from much of Canada
and Mexico billed as home-area calls. Of course, it's more expensive and you
can't get some of the freebies that you could on AC within the past year.
National Single-Rate, Verizon's true "no roaming or LD anywhere in the US"
plan, used to have an extra-monthly-cost Canada option. (America's Choice,
like Sprint's Free and Clear and other "preferred network" plans, covers most,
but not all, of the USA without roaming/LD charges.)

AT&T used to have a Canada option, also at extra monthly cost, on their
    Digital One-Rate plan.

Your best bet would be North America's Choice, or (if you can get it)
AT&T Digital One-Rate or Verizon National Single-Rate with the Canada option.
I don't know if NSR or DOR still have Canada calling as an option - check
with the carriers. Verizon Wireless would be 800-2-Join-In (256-4646) or
call customer service at 800-922-0204; not being an ATTWS customer, I'm not
sure which number would be the right one but you can check attwireless.com.
