I've recently upgraded my Hanspring Visor (with VisorPhone) to a Samsung
i330 because I figured it was time to get modern and stuff.

Or should I say, tried to upgrade... I can't get the darn thing to sync
over its USB line (I don't have the plain serial cable (anyone know where
    to get that?)).

    I've got RedHat 9.0 (kernel 2.4.20-31.9), pilot-link 0.11.5, and jpilot
0.99.7. I've tried 'pilot-xfer --list' on the only ttyUSB that comes up
when I plug the phone in, hit the hotsync icon (there's no button on the
"cradle") and then it just waits until it times out.

Any clues out there? The Visor USB cradle worked fine.

Its seems to work best if you start Hotsync on the Palm device before
telling JPilot to Sync. You have an older version of Pilot-Link and
that may be an issue. Lastly Pilot-Link needs to recognize your device,
there might be a little bit of extra configuration to make that happen.
Not that Linux users aren't used to a little extra configuration here
and there. Check the JPilot and Pilot-Link web sites for help on the
    subject.

Thanks, but I can't seem to get it to work at all. I have a feeling that
it's due to the sync cable. I don't have the desktop charger/cradle combo,
    just a pl2303-based USB-serial cable (which I'm guessing shows up as a
completely different device). So I rebuilt verious modules (visor.o,
usbserial.o, pl2303.o) in an attempt to get it recognized. No luck. I
    tried a new version of pilot-link, but I have a feeling it's a module
problem, since visor.o won't load automatically for me.

I've managed to borrow a plain old serial cable, which seems to work just
fine, but I'll be continuing to attempt the USB connection in various ways.
Any suggestions are appreciated (since I'm pretty much out of ideas).
