I have been with SprintPCS since 1999 and I am on the $30 for 300min (plus
unlimited N/W and PCS to PCS) plan using a Qualcomm 2760 phone. I am happy
with the plan I have. I do not see any advantage to any of the plans
    currently offered by SprintPCS.

I do want to get a new phone and I am willing to pay for it and skip any
rebates. I was looking at the "change your phone" page on the SprintPCS
website and it indicates that if I am switching to a Vision phone that I
will have to get a new plan. Somewhere else I think I saw that the plan
    must be a Vision plan.

If I am forced to get a new F&C plan it looks like I will be paying $40 a
month to get what I have now plus I will be tied in to an advantage plan.
If I have to add Vision to the plan I will be paying even more?

Is this the case? If so, this seems to put a limit on the phone that I can
use to replace my old phone. Looking at the phone lineup at SprintPCS I do
not see many phones (one or two) that are not Vision phones. Does anyone
have any knowledge on this topic?

That doesn't sound right. If you wanted to take the vision option, you would
need to change plans, but if you are just going to use the phone to talk,
there shouldn't be a need to change plans.

Here's what I would do. Go into your manage page, scroll down to the bottom
of the page, click on the "contact us" link, then on the email link and
outline your question there. Mention that you aren't interested in using the
Vision option. You should get an email back from them within 24 hours.

They require this because they have to provision the Vision services on
the phone and that is attached to the plan [granted, you probably don't
want the Vision services, but that is the way it is].

Why not get the F&F plan for $35? That starts with 300 minutes. I know
it is $5 more / month. You can probably call "retention" and get that
$5 taken back off of your bill :-)

Again, I would deal with the retention department on this. Just
indicate your dilemna and indicate that the increased monthly cost would
motivate you to potentially consider another carrier and you should do
alright. The people that I know have used it have not had to break legs
    to get a good deal.

That might be a current requirement, but I know three people who have
vision-capable phones without being on vision plans.
In fact all three of those people are on the very same $30/300 plan
which Mike says he's using now.
They simply activated the new phones on their old plans,
simultaneously declining the free 2-months vision services trial offer.

I think my wife's Hitachi P-300 is a Vision phone. She bought it off eBay and
activated it and is on the same plan she's always been on -- your $30/300 plus
PCS to PCS plan. Mind you, this was not a phone she bought from Sprint (it'd
already been discontinued when we got it last year)

No, unless you want $15 unlimited Vision or one of the Vision packs. There's no
monthly charge if you don't want to pay monthly for it; in that case you pay
    per kilobyte transferrred.

Not to mention that you can add vision without a plan upgrade to the
30dollar/300min plan. If they force the issue sign up for the two months
    free then cancel vision.

Bob they have been offering the 30dollar/300min plan up to the beginning
of 2003. You can add vision to it without a plan change, I know a few
people who have that setup. Should be-able to do the two month free vision
service if they for some reason they push the issue and then cancel it
    before the free trial ends.

As that plan isn't available now, for those that want Vision, can they apply
the appropriate codes to that same plan? I'm talking about now, not what
could be done six months to two years ago.

I would call that more an example of posting inline, which I agree
is appropriate when replying to multiple questions/points.
To a purist, it is not true bottom posting.

If you don't care about the rebate, there is no problem, just buy the phone
you want!! Only reason you have to add Vision service is its a requirement
    to get the rebate .
