Re: 4920 USB Cable
Bob, I take it that one will also fit the 4900, and allow one to use
BitPM to xfer files between the 2?

All the newer Sanyo phones have the same port. Future Dial makes the cables
and Radio Shack sells them for less.

I just got this phone last week, got the cable from Radio Shack (as
well as the FutureDial SnapSync/SnapDialer combo pack. SnapSync alone
was well worth the purchase, as I have a LOT of phone numbers to
transfer. I'll never do that through the phone interface again!

Just out of curiousity, what did the cable and combo pack cost?
Thanks

There were some discounts involved because I bought my phone, cable
and software all at once and upgraded my service plan to include
Sprint PCS Vision as well. I paid $17.99 for the cable and $33.59 for
the software. The regular retail price at Radio Shack was $22.49 and
$41.99, respectively.

You could have just DL'd BitPim (free) and done the same thing for only
$18.
I don't know about anyone else, but I find the "sync" apps, including
DataPilot, to be over-priced and poorly written.
I think sync software should be *included* with the damn phone. This
reminds me of the situation with PDAs in the pre-Palm Pilot era. But
could you imagine buying a PDA today without included sync software? If
the carriers would like us to think of our phones as more than just
phones, then sync software should be included with all phones (even if
it means OTA syncing).

I'm not too worried about the cost of my software, as it's a business
expense for me (my cell phone is my small business phone). It's done
everything it claimed to do, and at the time (and even now in
retrospect) it was worth it.
However, now that I have imported all my numbers I do agree that it is
a bit lacking in functionality. I like BitPim's claim that it will
let me access other parts of the phone's memory. I'll give it a try.
Thanks again.
