A friend of mine at one time had Qwest cellular service. She had
something happen to her phone and they sent her out a new phone. I
guess her old phone started working right so she never activated the
new phone. "Sanyo 8100'. She never activated it. She gave me the
phone. Will this phone only work on Qwest or will it also work on
Sprint?
Thanks
Al

Sprint WILL NOT activate a phone that hasn't been supplied by them.

Sprint has activated at least of two phones I purchased on
Ebay. Infact, I have had only good luck in asking Sprint ahead
of time if they will activate a particular ESN that the Ebay
seller MUST supply before I bid.
I believe they are only checking that the phone is not stolen.
Must note that my activations were all done about 6 months
ago.
Good Luck,
Robert

Re: Question about ESN number
The phone must be able to operate on the Sprint network. I am not familiar
with Qwest but if it is a PCS network then maybe Sprint can activate it.

Qwest is, in fact, 1900 MHz CDMA, same as Sprint, but Sprint won't activate
any phones they didn't originally sell.
Having said that, my wife and I have activated a few used Sprint phones on
our account, that we bought off eBay. Check the ESN first, and as long as
Sprint doesn't have it blacklisted you should be ok.

When I said, "Sprint WILL NOT activate a phone that hasn't been supplied
by them," what I meant to say was "... ORIGINALLY supplied by them."
Thanks for typing what I was thinking, Steve! <g>
